Australia ’ s Radioactive Waste Classification Scheme
نویسنده
چکیده
he topic of radioactive waste generates debate, both publicly and scientifically. Like chemical and other hazardous waste, radioactive waste needs to be dealt with to ensure its safety and its security. Proper management and disposal of most forms of radioactive waste is technically straightforward. A robust safety regime has been developed internationally for managing and disposing of radioactive waste.

Calculation of Production and Decay of Radioisotopes for Future Irradiation Experiments and Ion Beam Facilities
The design of future radioactive ion beam (RIB) facilities requires the forecast of radio isotope inventory after irradiation. At CERN – ISOLDE, we developed a software that estimates the activity of irradiated materials as a function of time dedicated to radioactive waste management. This tool can also be used for licensing procedures, planning of irradiation experiments and the estimation of ...
متن کاملMembrane Assisted Liquid Extraction of Actinides and Remediation of Nuclear Waste: A Review
Membrane assisted liquid extraction(MALE) technologies are gaining an important role as an extraction /separation technique for actinides and are being deployed as a promising tool for remediation of nuclear waste generated in the reprocessing plant and other radioactive wastes containing a trace level of radionuclides. The present contribution outlines the classification of membrane assisted ...
متن کاملEvaluation of existing treatment techniques and various problems associated with nuclear waste management
This paper deals with the study of radioactive waste generation and their treatment techniques. The wastes that are generated during the front and back end of the nuclear power production are classified are low, intermediate and high level waste. The various existing process for the treatment for the waste like, reprocessing, pyroprocessing, transmutation, and options available for the disposal...
متن کاملStructural and Chemical Incorporation of ReO4 and TcO4 in Borosilicate Glasses
Sodium borosilicate glasses containing various concentrations of rhenium or technetium were fabricated, and their vibrational spectra studied using a Raman microscope. Spectra were interpreted with reference to new high resolution measurements of alkali pertechnetates and perrhenates NaReO4, KReO4, NaTcO4, and KTcO4. At low concentrations of ReO4 or TcO4 , glass spectra show weak peaks superimp...
