Single Point Positioning Using GPS, GLONASS and BeiDou Satellites

چکیده
This paper introduces the Chinese BeiDou satellite system and its comparison with the actual completed American GPS and the Russian GLONASS systems. The actual BeiDou system consists of 14 satellites covering totally the Asia-Pacific area. A Single Point Positioning (SPP) test has been realised in Changsha, Hunan province, China, to show the advantage of using combined pseudorange solutions from these 3 satellite navigation systems especially in obstructed sites. The test shows that, with an elevation mask angle of 10 ̊, the accuracy is improved by about 20% in horizontal coordinates and nearly 50% in the vertical component using the simultaneous observations of the 3 systems compared to the GPS/GLONASS solution. For the processing with an elevation mask angle of 30 ̊, most of the time less than 4 GPS satellites were available for the GPS-only case and no solution was possible. However, in this difficult situation, the combined GPS/GLONASS/ BeiDou solutions provided an accuracy (rms values) of about 5 m.

Assessment of the Contribution of BeiDou GEO, IGSO, and MEO Satellites to PPP in Asia–Pacific Region
In contrast to the US Global Positioning System (GPS), the Russian Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS) and the European Galileo, the developing Chinese BeiDou satellite navigation system (BDS) consists of not only Medium Earth Orbit (MEO), but also Geostationary Orbit (GEO) as well as Inclined Geosynchronous Orbit (IGSO) satellites. In this study, the Precise Point Positioning (PPP) an...

Multiple global and regional navigation satellite systems are currently being developed. In addition to the already available GPS and GLONASS constellations, Galileo and BeiDou satellites have been launched, as well as one QZSS satellite and other regional satellites. At the same time GPS and GLONASS are being modernized. Highprecision positioning applications that rely on carrierphase ambiguit...
متن کاملA New GNSS Single-Epoch Ambiguity Resolution Method Based on Triple-Frequency Signals
Fast and reliable ambiguity resolution (AR) has been a continuing challenge for real-time precise positioning based on dual-frequency Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) carrier phase observation. New GNSS systems (i.e., GPS modernization, BDS (BeiDou Navigation Satellite System), GLONASS (Global Navigation Satellite System), and Galileo) will provide multiple-frequency signals. The GNSS...
متن کاملGlobal Ionospheric Modelling using Multi-GNSS: BeiDou, Galileo, GLONASS and GPS
The emergence of China's Beidou, Europe's Galileo and Russia's GLONASS satellites has multiplied the number of ionospheric piercing points (IPP) offered by GPS alone. This provides great opportunities for deriving precise global ionospheric maps (GIMs) with high resolution to improve positioning accuracy and ionospheric monitoring capabilities. In this paper, the GIM is developed based on multi...
متن کاملPerformance assessment of GPS/GLONASS single point positioning in an urban environment
In signal-degraded environments such as urban canyons and mountainous area, many GNSS signals are either blocked or strongly degraded by natural and artificial obstacles. In such scenarios standalone GPS is often unable to guarantee a continuous and accurate positioning due to lack (or the poor quality) of signals. The combination of different GNSSs could be a suitable approach to fill this gap...
