(P044) Treatment Outcomes of WHO Grade III Malignant Meningioma With and Without Postoperative Radiation Therapy.

چکیده
April 30, 2015 | ARS 2015 [1] Our study showed that patients with primary malignant meningioma had better outcomes after maximal resection followed by postoperative radiation. In contrast, transformed meningiomas demonstrated more aggressive behavior, with lower median survival despite RT. Further multi-institutional or randomized studies are required to evaluate the effectiveness of postoperative RT to determine the best approach to managing these tumors.

Meningiomas: knowledge base, treatment outcomes, and uncertainties. A RANO review.
Evolving interest in meningioma, the most common primary brain tumor, has refined contemporary management of these tumors. Problematic, however, is the paucity of prospective clinical trials that provide an evidence-based algorithm for managing meningioma. This review summarizes the published literature regarding the treatment of newly diagnosed and recurrent meningioma, with an emphasis on out...

OBJECTIVE Meningioma is the second most common primary central nervous system neoplasm. In contrast, chordoid meningioma is rare; due to the paucity of cases, little is known about its clinical features or treatment outcomes. The objectives of this study were to describe the clinical characteristics and outcomes for patients with chordoid meningioma. METHODS In total, 16 patients, with newly ...
متن کاملAn evidence-based treatment algorithm for the management of WHO Grade II and III meningiomas.
The management of WHO Grade II "atypical" meningiomas (AMs) and Grade III "malignant" meningiomas (MMs) remains controversial and under-investigated in prospective studies. The roles of surgery, radiation therapy, radiosurgery, and chemotherapy have been incompletely delineated. This has left physicians to decipher how they should treat patients on a case-by-case basis. In this study, the autho...
متن کاملLinac-based stereotactic radiotherapy and radiosurgery in patients with meningioma
BACKGROUND It was our purpose to analyze long-term clinical outcome and to identify prognostic factors after Linac-based fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy (Linac-based FSRT) and stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) in patients with intracranial meningiomas. MATERIALS AND METHODS Between 10/1995 and 03/2009, 297 patients with a median age of 59 years were treated with FSRT for intracranial men...
متن کاملSinonasal Teratocarcinosarcoma Report of a case
Sinonasal teratocarcinosarcoma (SNTCS) is a rare tumor characterized by mixture architecture of epithelial and mesenchymal components. SNTCS is a highly malignant tumor displaying progressive and aggressive growth with poor prognosis. Only about 40% of all patients survive after five years. It seems the combination of surgery and radiotherapy currently is the most effective treatment. In this r...
