چکیده

Laser speckle flowmetry suffers from a debated quantitative relationship with blood flow, velocity or tissue perfusion and a lack of calibration of the inverse relationship 1/τc = αV between decorrelation time (τc) and flow velocity (V). Using a modified microcirculation imager, we experimentally investigate on the influence of the optical properties of scatterers on α in vitro and in vivo. We found a good agreement to theoretical predictions based on the scattering phase function, within certain limits for scatterer size and multiple scattering. We present a practical model-based scaling factor to correct for multiple scattering in microcirculatory vessels. Our results show that laser speckle flowmetry offers a quantitative measure of flow velocity in addition to vessel morphology, providing the quantification of local blood flow, velocity and tissue perfusion for clinically relevant applications. Volumetric and quantitative imaging of retinal blood flow in rats with optical microangiography

In this paper, we present methods for 3D visualization and quantitative measurements of retinal blood flow in rats by the use of optical microangiography imaging technique (OMAG). We use ultrahigh sensitive OMAG to provide high-quality 3D RBF perfusion maps in the rat eye, from which the Doppler angle, as well as the diameters of blood vessels, are evaluated. Estimation of flow velocity (i.e. a...

Simultaneous measurement of water flow velocity with fluorescent and speckle imaging technique

The average velocity of water flow has been simultaneously measured with fluorescent and speckle imaging methods. The measured velocities with two methods are in good agreement with each other and it confirms that the speckle imaging method can be used as a confident method to measure the velocity of water flow in a dry leaf. Also the velocity of water flow through thick and thin xylems of a le...
