Galindo, T.P.S.; Rosário, I.R.; da Silva, E.M.; E. (2014) Micronucleus test in frillfin goby Bathygobius soporator (Valenciennes, 1873) from tide pools of Salvador city, Brazil. Braz. J. Aquat. Sci. Technol. 18(1):19-24. eISSN 19839057. DOI: 10.14210/bjast.v18n1.p19-24 The genotoxic effects of metals were evaluated in Bathygobius soporator using the micronucleus test. The frequencies of micronuclei in fish erythrocytes cells of sampling points were elevated when compared to the controls (P < 0.05). Micronucleus test in fish erythrocytes were useful to determine genotoxic effects of metals substances in the fish, reducing the pain and suffer of the animal testing. The first PC (70.56%) of principal component analysis (PCA) account for almost all of the variance, and Pearson’s correlation coefficient between the first PC and micronucleus frequency of sampling points (P1-P10) was performed (r = -0.704, P = 0.023).

Evaluation of genotoxicity using the micronucleus assay and nuclear abnormalities in the tropical sea fish Bathygobius soporator (Valenciennes, 1837) (Teleostei, Gobiidae)
The micronucleus and nuclear abnormalities assays have been used increasingly to evaluate genotoxicity of many compounds in polluted aquatic ecossystems. The aim of this study is to verify the efficiency of the micronucleus assay and nuclear abnormality assay in field and laboratory work, when using erythrocytes of the tropical marine fish Bathygobius soporator as genotoxicity biomarkers. Gill ...
متن کاملBehaviour and Circadian Rhythm of the Fish Bathygobius Soporator Valenciennes (gobiidae) under the Influence of Environmental Salinity and Temperature
The behavioural patterns and their circadian rhythms may be adaptive to the peculiar environmental conditions of subtropical brackish waters where Bathygobius soporator Valenciennes, 1837 live. Adult fish were caught at the southern Brazilian coast from mangrove rivers and rocky shores in a bay, where temperature and water salinity vary during the day and through the year. Observation on the be...
متن کاملSite fidelity, size, and morphology may differ by tidal position for an intertidal fish, Bathygobius cocosensis (Perciformes-Gobiidae), in Eastern Australia
The intertidal zone is a transitional environment that undergoes daily environmental fluctuations as tides rise and fall. Relatively few fish species are adapted to endure the physiological pressures of this environment. This study focused on Bathygobius cocosensis (Gobiidae), a common intertidal fish in New South Wales, Australia. We investigated whether shore height impacted site fidelity, su...
متن کاملChromosomal complements of some Atlantic Blennioidei and Gobioidei species (Perciformes)
A remarkable degree of chromosomal conservatism (2n=48, FN=48) has been identified in several families of Perciformes. However, some families exhibit greater karyotypic diversity, although there is still scant information on the Atlantic species. In addition to a review of karyotypic data available for representatives of the suborders Blennioidei and Gobioidei, we have performed chromosomal ana...
