Mathematical modelling of airflow in the glottal region and its comparison with experimental data

چکیده
Finite element method (FEM) was used for numerical simulation of the airflow field in a simplified model of the human vocal tract for vowel /a:/ with prescribed periodic oscillations of the vocal folds. The viscous fluid is modeled by 2D compressible Navier-Stokes equations in Arbitrary LagrangianEulerian (ALE) formulation and considering the turbulence. The computed flow field pattern is compared with the original experimental results obtained by Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) method.

Steady Flow Through Modeled Glottal Constriction
The airflow in the modeled glottal constriction was simulated by the solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations for laminar flow, and the corresponding Reynolds equations for turbulent flow in generalized, nonorthogonal coordinates using a numerical method. A two-dimensional model of laryngeal flow is considered and aerodynamic properties are calculated for both laminar and turbulent steady flows...
متن کاملUNBOUNDEDNESS IN MOILP AND ITS EFFICIENT SOLUTIONS
In this paper we investigate Multi-Objective Integer Linear Programming (MOILP) problems with unbounded feasible region and introduce recession direction for MOILP problems. Then we present necessary and sufficient conditions to have unbounded feasible region and infinite optimal values for objective functions of MOILP problems. Finally we present some examples with unbounded feasible region and fi...
متن کاملePGG, airflow and acoustic data on glottal opening in Korean plosives
This paper is concerned with glottal opening in the Korean lenis (/p t k/), aspirated (/p t k/) and fortis (/p’ t’ k’/) plosives, using a new non-invasive technique called external lighting and sensing photoglottograph (ePGG) as well as airflow and acoustic data. From the simultaneous recording of ePGG, airflow and acoustic data, we have investigated (a) the timing relations among glottal openi...
متن کاملDynamic modelling of hardness changes of aluminium nanostructure during mechanical ball milling process
In this research, the feasibility of using mathematical modelling in the ball milling process has been evaluated to verify the hardness changes of an aluminium nanostructure. Considering the model of normal force displacement (NFD), the radius of elastic-plastic and normal displacement of two balls were computed by applying analytical modelling and coding in MATLAB. Properties of balls and alum...
متن کاملA New Five-Parameter Distribution: Properties and Applications
In this paper, a new five-parameter lifetime and reliability distribution named “the exponentiated Uniform-Pareto distribution (EU-PD),” has been suggested that it has a bathtub-shaped and inverse bathtub-shape for modeling lifetime data. This distribution has applications in economics, actuarial modelling, reliability modeling, lifetime and biological sciences. Firstly, the mathematical and st...
