چکیده

journal.publications.chestnet.org of our index cases over time (particularly the two individuals described in our report who were instrumental in our recognition of the local cluster and whose lives were devastated and shortened by this occupational lung disease) and our efforts to collate and interpret the available longitudinal surveillance data on workers have contributed more than a little to our understanding of FWL, as well as the importance of scholarship, communication, collaboration, and patient advocacy.

Limited English Proficient Patients and Time Spent in Therapeutic Range in a Warfarin Anticoagulation Clinic

BACKGROUND While anticoagulation clinics have been shown to deliver tailored, high-quality care to patients receiving warfarin therapy, communication barriers with limited English proficient (LEP) patients may lead to disparities in anticoagulation outcomes. METHODS AND RESULTS We analyzed data on 3770 patients receiving care from the Massachusetts General Hospital Anticoagulation Management ...

Comparison of the quality of oral anticoagulant therapy through patient self-management and management by specialized anticoagulation clinics in the Netherlands: a randomized clinical trial.

BACKGROUND Several studies have demonstrated that patient self-management of oral anticoagulant therapy (OAT) can improve treatment quality. However, most of these studies were not conducted within a specialized anticoagulation care system. The objective of the present study was to determine whether patient self-management of OAT improves the quality of care delivered by anticoagulation clinics...

Comparing the quality of oral anticoagulant management by anticoagulation clinics and by family physicians: a randomized controlled trial.

BACKGROUND There is growing evidence that better outcomes are achieved when anticoagulation is managed by anticoagulation clinics rather than by family physicians. We carried out a randomized controlled trial to evaluate these 2 models of anticoagulant care. METHODS We randomly allocated patients who were expected to require warfarin sodium for 3 months either to anticoagulation clinics locat...

A randomised control trial of patient self-management of oral anticoagulation compared with patient self-testing.

Several studies suggest that patient self-management (PSM) may improve the quality of oral anticoagulation therapy as measured by time spent within the international normalised ratio (INR) target range. We performed a prospective randomised control trial to determine whether the improvement in quality of treatment afforded by PSM is greater than that achieved by patient self-testing (PST) alone...

Effect of a simple two-step warfarin dosing algorithm on anticoagulant control as measured by time in therapeutic range: a pilot study.

BACKGROUND The efficacy and safety of vitamin K antagonists for the prevention of thromboembolism are dependent on the time for which the International Normalized Ratio (INR) is in the therapeutic range. The objective of our study was to determine the effect of introducing a simple two-step dosing algorithm, as compared with dosing by anticoagulation clinic staffs on the basis of their experien...
