A Proof of Quasi-Independence of Sliding Window Flow Control and Go-Back-n Error Recovery Under Independent Packet Errors
نویسنده
چکیده
A quasi-independence result holds for the go-back-n automatic repeat request (ARQ) protocol and the sliding window ow control protocol if packet errors are independent. The result is independent of the magnitude of the packet error probability or the cost of an error. A parallel result for the selective repeat ARQ protocol, however, does not appear to hold.

متن کاملAnalysis of Error Control and Congestion Control Protocols
This thesis presents an analysis of a class of error control and congestion control protocols used in computer networks. We address two kinds of packet errors: (a) independent errors and (b) congestion-dependent errors. Our performance measure is the expected time and the standard deviation of the time to transmit a large message, consisting of N packets. The analysis of error control protocols...
متن کاملA Comparison of Selected Gbn Arq Schemes for Variable-error-rate Channel Using Qam
In non-stationary channels, error rates vary considerably. The paper compares Yao’s Adaptive Go-backN (GBN) Automatic-Repeat-Request (ARQ) scheme with Adaptive go-back-N with sliding window mechanism which both estimate the channel state in a simple manner, and adaptively switch their operation mode. The throughput of these schemes is compared in conditions of Additive White Gauss Noise (AWGN) ...
متن کاملDesigninga Neuro-Sliding Mode Controller for Networked Control Systems with Packet Dropout
This paper addresses control design in networked control system by considering stochastic packet dropouts in the forward path of the control loop. The packet dropouts are modelled by mutually independent stochastic variables satisfying Bernoulli binary distribution. A sliding mode controller is utilized to overcome the adverse influences of stochastic packet dropouts in networked control system...
متن کاملSecond-Order Rate-Based Flow Control with Decoupled Error Control for High-Throughput Transport Protocols
We propose an efficient flow and error control scheme for high-throughput transport protocols, which (i) decouples flow control from error control, and (ii) uses a second-order rate control, called -control, for flow control and a new sliding-window scheme for error control. The control minimizes the need for packet retransmissions by adjusting the rate-gain parameter in response to the variati...
