چکیده

The 2-step domination problem is to find a minimum vertex set D of a graph such that every vertex of the graph is either in D or at distance two from some vertex of D. In the present paper, by using a labeling method, we provide an O(m) time algorithm to solve the 2-step domination problem on block graphs, a superclass of trees.

Broadcast Domination on Block Graphs in Linear Time

A broadcast domination on a graph assigns an integer value f(u) ≥ 0 to each vertex u, such that every vertex u with f(u) = 0 is within distance f(v) from a vertex v with f(v) > 0. The Broadcast Domination problem seeks to compute a broadcast domination where the sum of the assigned values is minimized. We show that Broadcast Domination can be solved in linear time on block graphs. For general g...

A labeling algorithm for distance domination on block graphs∗

The k-distance domination problem is to find a minimum vertex set D of a graph such that every vertex of the graph is either in D or within distance k from some vertex of D, where k is a positive integer. In the present paper, by using labeling method, a linear-time algorithm for k-distance domination problem on block graphs is designed.

Power domination in block graphs

The problem of monitoring an electric power system by placing as few measurement devices in the system as possible is closely related to the well-known domination problem in graphs. In 2002, Haynes et al. considered the graph theoretical representation of this problem as a variation of the domination problem. They defined a set S to be a power dominating set of a graph if every vertex and every...

Fe b 20 08 Labelling Algorithms for Paired - domination Problems in Block and Interval Graphs ∗

Let G = (V,E) be a graph without isolated vertices. A set S ⊆ V is a paired-domination set if every vertex in V − S is adjacent to a vertex in S and the subgraph induced by S contains a perfect matching. The paired-domination problem is to determine the paired-domination number, which is the minimum cardinality of a paired-dominating set. Motivated by a mistaken algorithm given by Chen, Kang an...

Linear-Time Algorithm for the Paired-Domination Problem on Weighted Block Graphs

Given a graph G = (V,E), the domination problem is to find a minimum size vertex subset S ⊆ V (G) such that every vertex not in S is adjacent to a vertex in S. A dominating set S of G is called a paired-dominating set if the induced subgraph G[S] contains a perfect matching. The paired-domination problem involves finding a paired-dominating set S of G such that the cardinality of S is minimized...
