چکیده

The objective of this study was to compare milk protein, amino acid and fatty acid content and composition among two breeds of river buffalo (Murrah and Nili-Ravi), and their hybrid F1 and F2 (crossbreeding with local swamp buffalo). The protein and fat content in milk from crossbreed F1 and F2 were significant higher than that of river buffalo, but the milk yield was still lower than Nili-Ravi and Murrah. The protein composition in crossbreed milk was similar to Nili-Ravi, except κ-casein. Most of amino acid profile of crossbreed milk was similar with river water buffalo, however, significant difference was found in three essential amino acids (Met, Leu and Phe) and four nonessential amino acids (Ser, Glu, Ala and Cys). The fatty acid profile of crossbreed milk was also similar with Nili-Ravi milk, but the content of SFA was lower and UFA content was higher than Murrah milk. However, PUFA content in crossbreed’s milk was lower than that of river buffalo. In brief, crossbreeding improved the milk quality and yield of Chinese swamp buffalo, but the crossbreed’s milk has similar nutrition to the river buffalo such as Murrah and Nili-Ravi.

Investigation of (Stearoyl-CoA Desaturase 1) SCD1 Gene Polymorphism in Khuzestan Buffalo Population Using PCR-RFLPMethod

Stearoyl-CoA desaturase (SCD) is a rate-limiting enzyme in the biosynthesis of monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA). A number of studies support the hypothesis that SCD gene regulation and polymorphism may affect fatty acid composition and fat quality in meat and milk. Single nucleotide polymorphisms in the coding region of the bovine stearoyl-CoA desaturase gene have been predicted to result in ...

Karyotypic evolution of ribosomal sites in buffalo subspecies and their crossbreed

DOMESTIC BUFFALOES ARE DIVIDED INTO TWO GROUP BASED ON CYTOGENETIC CHARACTERISTICS AND HABITATS: the "river buffaloes" with 2n = 50 and the "swamp buffaloes", 2n = 48. Nevertheless, their hybrids are viable, fertile and identified by a 2n = 49. In order to have a better characterization of these different cytotypes of buffaloes, and considering that NOR-bearing chromosomes are involved in the r...

The prenatal development in swamp buffalo (Bubalus carabanensis)

There are morphological and reproductive physiological differences between swamp buffalo (Bubaluscarabanensis) and river buffalo (Bubalus bubalis). The development of fetus weight and fetus biometry wasreported in river buffalo and other animals but not in swamp buffalo. The aim of this study was to describethe inherent variability in fetus related measurements during swamp buffalo pregnancy. T...

Study on DGAT1-exon8 Polymorphism in Iranian Buffalo

Objective: Diacylglycerol acyltransferase 1 is a microsomal enzyme that catalyzes the final step of triglyceride synthesis. The objective of this project is to check out the polymorphism at the exon 8 region of DGAT1 gene using PCR-SSCP technique in Iranian water buffaloes (Bubalus bubalis). Recent activities have shown that a significant association between lysine at amino acid positi...

Cytogenetic identification of Khuzestani water Buffalo

The domestic water buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) is an economically important livestock species in many Asian and Mediterranean countries. Two types of water buffalos are river and swamp buffaloes. Genetically, the swamp buffalo has 48 chromosomes (2n = 48) and the river buffalo has 50 chromosomes (2n = 50). Khuzestan province is one of the important centers of buffalo farming in ...
