چکیده

The peculiarities of electric current in semiconductors with nonuniform distribution of charge carriers are studied. The semiclassical drift-diffusion equations consisting of the continuity equations and the Poisson equation are solved numerically using Rusanov finite-difference scheme of third order. The different types of boundary conditions are numerically investigated. It is shown that the stability of the Rusanov scheme for the problem considered is achieved with the Neumann type boundary conditions. These conditions correspond to the absence of diffusion through semiconductor surface. Special set of parameters is found under which a very interesting and unusual transient effect of negative current in nonuniform semiconductors appears. Different regimes of negative current are considered for realistic semiconductor materials.

Modelling Nonlocal Processes in Semiconductor Devices with Exponential Difference Schemes Part 2: Numerical Methods and Computational Experiments

In a companion paper 11], based on the concept of relaxation time we considered the hierarchy of models for semiconductor devices. We focused at the quasi-hydrodynamic model as a reasonable compromise for the modelling of nonlocal and non-equilibrium processes in semiconductor plasma. The model was reduced to a form that is convenient for the numerical discretisation. In this paper we construct...

MODELLING NONLOCAL PROCESSES IN SEMICONDUCTOR DEVICES WITH EXPONENTIAL DIFFERENCE SCHEMES Part 1: Relaxation Time Approximations

In this paper we deal with nonlocal quasi-hydrodynamic mathematical models describing non-equilibrium physical processes in semiconductor devices. These processes cannot be adequately described with conventional drift-diiusion models. The primary numerical diiculty arises in the energy balance equation. Details of the discretisa-tion for the continuity equations will be described along with a t...

Field Dependent Charge Carrier Transport for Organic Semiconductors at the Time of Flight Configuration

In this paper, we used the time-of-flight (TOF) of a charge packet, that injected by a voltage pulse to calculate the drift velocity and mobility of holes in organic semiconducting polymers. The technique consists in applying a voltage to the anode and calculating the time delay in the appearance of the injected carriers at the other contact. The method is a simple way to determine the charge t...

Modelling of Sediment Transport in Beris Fishery Port

In this paper, the large amount of sedimentation and the resultant shoreline advancements at the breakwaters of Beris Fishery Port are studied. A series of numerical modeling of waves, sediment transport, and shoreline changes were conducted to predict the complicated equilibrium shoreline. The outputs show that the nearshore directions of wave components are not perpendicular to the coast whic...

About Boltzmann Equations for Transport Modeling in Semiconductors

We present some results on the mathematical analysis of kinetic equations for modelling transport processes in semiconductors. We focus our attention on the connection between the kinetic models and the fluids ones based on driftdiffusion or hydrodynamic equations. Asymptotic analysis gives hydrodynamic coefficients in, terms of microscopic quantities and allows to derive accurate boundary cond...
