Multi-phonon Raman scattering in semiconductor nanocrystals: importance of non-adiabatic transitions
نویسنده
چکیده
Multi-phonon Raman scattering in semiconductor nanocrystals is treated taking into account both adiabatic and non-adiabatic phonon-assisted optical transitions. Because phonons of various symmetries are involved in scattering processes, there is a considerable enhancement of intensities of multi-phonon peaks in nanocrystal Raman spectra. Cases of strong and weak band mixing are considered in detail. In the first case, fundamental scattering takes place via internal electron-hole states and is participated by sand d-phonons, while in the second case, when the intensity of the one-phonon Raman peak is strongly influenced by the interaction of an electron and of a hole with interface imperfections (e. g., with trapped charge), p-phonons are most active. Calculations of Raman scattering spectra for CdSe and PbS nanocrystals give a good quantitative agreement with recent experimental results. 78.30.-j, 63.20.Kr, 61.46.+w, 71.35.+z, 71.38.+i, 85.42.+m Typeset using REVTEX

Application of Raman microscopy for spin-phonon coupling and magnon excitation study in nanocrystals
There is a wild variety of Raman scattering techniques which may be used for characterization of phononphonon and spin-phonon interaction in nanocrystals. For magnetic nanocrystals, Raman microscopy is a useful tool to probe the spin-phonon coupling and exchange energy between antiferromagnetic next-nearestneighboring magnons in nanocrystals below the Néel temperature. This study shows that mul...

We treat resonant Raman scattering via the multiphonon exciton transitions in cylindrical quantum dots with a parabolic confinement in the lateral direction and with a finite rectangular interface-barrier confinement in the axial direction. The optical phonons and the electron-phonon interaction are considered within the multimode dielectric model. The model exploits both electrostatic and mech...

In this paper, we summarize our results on the effect of changing size and shape of semiconductor and metallic nanocrystals. The change in size (from 3.5 to 1.1 nm) and shape (from spherical to rod) of CdSe nanocrystals is found to affect both their optical and nonradiative properties. In gold quasi-spherical nanocrystals, results on the dependence of the electron-phonon relaxation of the surro...
متن کاملInterface optical phonons in spheroidal dots: Raman selection rules
The contribution of interface phonons to the first order Raman scattering in nanocrystals with non spherical geometry is analyzed. Interface optical phonons in the spheroidal geometry are discussed and the corresponding Fröhlich-like electron-phonon interaction is reported in the framework of the dielectric continuum approach. It is shown that the interface phonon modes are strongly dependent o...

The vibrational properties of single-walled carbon nanotubes reflect the electron and phonon confinement as well as the cylindrical geometry of the tubes. Raman scattering is one of the prime techniques for studying the fundamental properties of carbon tubes and nanotube characterization. The most important phonon for sample characterization is the radial-breathing mode, an in-phase radial move...
