Real-Time Simulation of VSC-based HVDC Systems using Rectification Capable Switching Function-Based 3-Level Inverter Models

چکیده
This paper presents a simulation model of a 3-level Neutral-Point Clamped IGBT inverter bridge suitable for realtime simulation testing. The model is switching-function based but also works in rectifying mode. Because of the large number of individual switches that compose such an inverter, the switchingfunction approach produces exceptional computational speed gain when compared to piecewise time-segment linear algorithms such as SimPowerSystems, both in off-line and real-time modes. A benchmark comparison of the model used in an HVDC-VSC application with the RT-LAB simulator has shown a 10-fold increase in hard real-time computational speed.

Dynamic Harmonic Modeling and Analysis of VSC-HVDC Systems
Harmonics have become an important issue in modern power systems. The widespread penetration of non-linear loads to emerging power systems has turned power quality analysis into an important operation issue under both steady state and transient conditions. This paper employs a Dynamic Harmonic Domain (DHD) based framework for dynamic harmonic analysis of VSC-HVDC systems. These systems are wide...
متن کاملDC Impedance-Model-Based Resonance Analysis of a VSC-HVDC System
Resonances can have negative impact on a Voltage Source Converter-High Voltage DC (VSC-HVDC) system. This paper develops dc impedance models for the rectifier and inverter stations for a VSC-HVDC system when they are viewed from a dc terminal. The impedance models take converter controllers into account. The derived impedance models are validated by comparing frequency responses of the analytic...

This paper proposes a fundamental and efficient control technique for introducing VSC (voltage source converter)based HVDC (high voltage direct current) transmission into a large-scale offshore wind power generation system with DFIGs (doubly-fed induction generators). The electric power from the offshore wind turbine DFIG is considerably fluctuating and unstable, and needs to be transmitted fro...
متن کاملMinimizing DC System Loss in Multi-Terminal HVDC Systems through Adaptive Droop control
In this paper, droop control of inverters in a multi-terminal HVDC (MTDC) system is designed to achieve minimum DC system loss while preventing converter overvoltage. Circuit analysis along with optimization analysis is first conducted to seek the optimal droop control gains. Contingent operating conditions are then considered. The droop control gains will adapt to achieve minimum loss as well ...
