چکیده

The P3(00) event-related potential (ERP) was elicited in 20 leftand 20 normal right-handed young adult male subjects using a simple visual stimulus discrimination task. For left-compared to right-handed subjects, P3 amplitude was larger at anterior electrode sites for the target stimuli and larger overall for the novel visual stimuli; P3 latency was shorter for left-compared to right-handers for the target stimuli. The Nl, P2, and N2 components demonstrated similar handedness effects. The relationships of ERP amplitude and handedness to anatomical variables and cognitive factors are discussed.

Familial Sinistrals Avoid Exact Numbers

We report data from an internet questionnaire of sixty number trivia. Participants were asked for the number of cups in their house, the number of cities they know and 58 other quantities. We compare the answers of familial sinistrals--individuals who are left-handed themselves or have a left-handed close blood-relative--with those of pure familial dextrals--right-handed individuals who reporte...

Differences between sinistrals' and dextrals' ability to infer a whole from its parts: a failure to replicate.

We attempted to replicate the study reported by NEBES [9] which suggested that sinistrals and dextrals differ in perceptual abilities. Three samples of university students totalling 102 subjects were administered Nebes’ arc-circle test, in which subjects are asked to examine an arc with their fingers and identify to which of 3 circles the arc belongs. In all three studies we failed to find the ...

The effect of handedness on the shape of the central sulcus

Sinistrals differ from dextrals in the size of certain cortical folds. For instance, handedness has an impact on central sulcus surface area: the sulcus is larger in the dominant left hemisphere of dextrals and vice versa for sinistrals. However, the impact of handedness on the shape of the central sulcus is largely unexplored. In this paper, we propose first an original strategy based on manif...

تشخیص و بررسی کاهش دامنۀ P300 در پتانسیل‌های وابسته به رویداد شنوایی تک‌ثبت با استفاده از الگوریتم ژنتیک و طبقه بندی‌کنندۀ شبکۀ عصبی

Abstract P300 is known as the most prominent component between cognitive components in electrical brain activity. According to done research, when brain encounters an inconsistent stimulation during processing a series of usual stimulation, a P300 component appears in recorded brain signal which could distinguishes from usual ones. Amplitude of P300 decreases after a short during act of auditor...

Bilateral detection thresholds in dextrals and sinistrals reflect the more sensitive side of the nose, which is not lateralized.

Several fundamental questions remain enigmatic concerning human olfactory sensitivity, including (i) whether detection threshold differences exist between the two sides of the nose (and, if so, whether such differences are influenced by handedness) and (ii) whether bilateral (i.e. binasal) stimulation leads to lower thresholds than unilateral stimulation (and, if so, whether the degree of facil...
