چکیده

Learning to simultaneously handle face alignment of arbitrary views, e.g. frontal and profile views, appears to be more challenging than we thought. The difficulties lay in i) accommodating the complex appearance-shape relations exhibited in different views, and ii) encompassing the varying landmark point sets due to self-occlusion and different landmark protocols. Most existing studies approach this problem via training multiple viewpoint-specific models, and conduct head pose estimation for model selection. This solution is intuitive but the performance is highly susceptible to inaccurate head pose estimation. In this study, we address this shortcoming through learning an Ensemble of Model Recommendation Trees (EMRT), which is capable of selecting optimal model configuration without prior head pose estimation. The unified framework seamlessly handles different viewpoints and landmark protocols, and it is trained by optimising directly on landmark locations, thus yielding superior results on arbitrary-view face alignment. This is the first study that performs face alignment on the full AFLW dataset with faces of different views including profile view. State-of-the-art performances are also reported on MultiPIE and AFW datasets containing both frontaland profile-view faces.

Automatic, Effective, and Efficient 3D Face Reconstruction from Arbitrary View Image

In this paper, we propose a fully automatic, effective and efficient framework for 3D face reconstruction based on a single face image in arbitrary view. First, a multi-view face alignment algorithm localizes the face feature points, and then EM algorithm is applied to derive the optimal 3D shape and position parameters. Moreover, the unit quaternion based pose representation is proposed for ef...

4D Match Trees for Non-rigid Surface Alignment

This paper presents a method for dense 4D temporal alignment of partial reconstructions of non-rigid surfaces observed from single or multiple moving cameras of complex scenes. 4D Match Trees are introduced for robust global alignment of non-rigid shape based on the similarity between images across sequences and views. Wide-timeframe sparse correspondence between arbitrary pairs of images is es...

Synthesized virtual view-based eigenspace for face recognition

This paper presents a new face recognition method using virtual view-based eigenspace. This method provides a possible way to recognize human face of different views even when samples of a view are not available. To achieve this, we have developed a virtual human face generation technique that synthesizes human face of arbitrary views. By using a frontal and profile images of a specific subject...

Face Alignment Using a Ranking Model based on Regression Trees

In this work, we exploit the regression trees-based ranking model, which has been successfully applied in the domain of web-search ranking, to build appearance models for face alignment. The model is an ensemble of regression trees which is learned with gradient boosting. The MCT (Modified Census Transform) as well as its unbinarized version PCT (Pseudo Census Transform) are used as features du...

A New Heuristic Algorithm for Drawing Binary Trees within Arbitrary Polygons Based on Center of Gravity

Graphs have enormous usage in software engineering, network and electrical engineering. In fact graphs drawing is a geometrically representation of information. Among graphs, trees are concentrated because of their ability in hierarchical extension as well as processing VLSI circuit. Many algorithms have been proposed for drawing binary trees within polygons. However these algorithms generate b...
