Goal Setting Transfer of Training Interventions

This study examines the effectiveness of two types of goals (distal outcome, proximal plus distal outcome) and being urged to ‘do your best’ as transfer of training interventions using a sample of government employees (n=58). Results revealed that participants who set distal outcome goals had the highest level of self-efficacy. Workplace performance, as assessed by peers, correlated with generalization and maintenance as assessed by a survey.
