چکیده
in lying time among odor treatments. HR piglets exposed to AA, NB or MF had decreased lying time compared with ISO. MR pigs spent more time PFF (interested in the odor) when exposed to MF or NB compared with ISO. LR pigs showed similar PFF when exposed to each odor. HR piglets showed more PFF when exposed to MF than ISO. MR piglets showed more PAF (avoided the odor) when exposed to MP and AA than ISO-exposed piglets. LR and HR did not differ in their PAF behaviors among odors. These experiments demonstrated that pig behavioral type interacted with piglet behavioral responses to relevant and non-relevant biological odors.

Possibility of Early Detection of Bovine Mastitis in Dairy Cows Using Thermal Images Processing
Bovine mastitis (BM) is a prevalent condition on dairy farms, affecting both livestock health and reducing profitability. This study investigated the feasibility of diagnosing BM in Holstein dairy cattle using thermography. To increase the detection between healthy cattle and unhealthy one and to better compare the results from thermal images, a number of parameters including somatic cell count...
متن کاملStudy of the relationship between oxidative stress and subclinical mastitis in dairy cattle
Subclinical mastitis is considered as one of the most prevalent diseases in dairy cows, causing drasticloss in the dairy industry. Oxidative stress, induced by reactive oxygen species (ROS), is believed to be aprimary factor in various cattle diseases including mastitis, but there are few studies regarding the role ofROS in subclinical mastitis. This study was undertaken to i) study the changes...

متن کاملAssociation of toll-like receptors 2 and 6 polymorphism with clinical mastitis and production traits in Holstein cattle
Mastitis is a costly disease of dairy cattle as it causes a loss in milk yield and milk quality in affected cows. Toll-like receptor (TLR) genes play a role in the host response to a variety of organisms including those inducing mastitis. In the present study, we investigated the polymorphism of TLR2, 4, 6 and 9 genes in Holstein cattle and ...
متن کاملInfluences of Switch Trimming on Cleanliness and Udder Health in Dairy Cattle
The periodic trimming of the long hairs growing at the distal end of the tail -switch trimming- is humane alternative of tail docking. The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of switch trimming on somatic cell count (SCC), California mastitis test (CMT) and udder cleanliness of lactating cows in a free-stall dairy farm. In the present study, 219 healthy, pregnant Holstein cows ...
