Three 3-axial Accelerometers Fixed inside the Tyre for Studying Contact Patch Deformations in Wet Conditions
نویسندگان
چکیده
The tyre-road contact area was studied visually by means of a high-speed camera and three accelerometers fixed to the inner liner of the tyre carcass. Both methods show a distorted contact area in wet conditions, but interesting differences appeared. First, the contact area in full aquaplaning seems strongly distorted on a glass plate when subjected to visual inspection, while accelerometers indicate a more even hydrodynamic aquaplaning contact length across the tyre width. Secondly, the acceleration sensors predict the clear shortening of the contact length of the tyre before the critical aquaplaning speed. It can be concluded that the visual contact area and shape are heavily dependent on the transparency of the liquid and smoothness of the glass. Meanwhile, the tyre sensors can provide a contact length estimate on any road surface imaginable.

Three 3-Axis Accelerometers on the Inner Liner of a Tyre for Finding the Tyre-Road Contact Friction Indicators
Direct tyre-road contact friction estimation is essential for future active safety systems. Friction estimation methods were proposed earlier for driving conditions in the presence of a slip angle or slip ratio. However, the estimation of friction from a freely rolling tyre is still an unsolved topic. This study uses three 3-axis accelerometers on the inner liner of a tyre to detect friction po...

Studies on vegetation changes of rangelands under grazed and non-grazedconditions are of great importance in the range management planning programs. To determinethe change process of vegetation, this study was performed in Inche Shorezar site of Golestanprovince for nine years (1997-2005). The vegetation parameters were measured every year inseveral fixed plots inside and adjacent of exclosures...

The purpose of this study is to investigate bending moment and the axial load capacity of a pressurized pipe suffering from a through-wall circumferential crack repaired by a composite sleeve. The three-dimensional finite element method (FEM) was adopted to compute the results, and the failure assessment diagram (FAD) was employed to investigate the failure behavior of the repaired pipe. The fi...
متن کاملFinite Element Simulation of Contact Mechanics of Cancer Cells in Manipulation Based on Atomic Force Microscopy
The theory of contact mechanics deals with stresses and deformations which arise when the surfaces of two solid bodies are brought into contact. In elastic deformation contact occurs over a finite area. A regular method for determining the dimensions of this area is Hertz Contact Model. Appearance of atomic force microscope results in introduction of Contact ...
