Metal-insulator transition in two-dimensional Ando model

چکیده
The transport properties of the Ando model on square lattice are studied numerically for box distribution of the diagonal disorder. The statistical properties of the Lyapunov exponents and of the conductance are discussed. It is shown that the statistics of the Lyapunov exponents agrees with the random matrix theory not only in the metallic regime, but even at the critical point. That confirms the applicability of the random matrix theory to the description of trie metal-insulator transition. The limiting distribution of the conductance at tl~e critical point of the metal-insulator transition is presented and its form is discussed on trie base of the statistics of the Lyapunov exponents. Fluctuations of the conductance in the metallic and of the logarithm of the conductance m the insulating regimes indicate that trie theory of trie metal-insulator transition is one-parametric.

Critical level spacing distribution of two - dimensional disordered systems with spin - orbit coupling
The energy level statistics of 2D electrons with spin-orbit scattering are considered near the disorder induced metal-insulator transition. Using the Ando model, the nearest-level-spacing distribution is calculated numerically at the critical point. It is shown that the critical spacing distribution is size independent and has a Poisson-like decay at large spacings as distinct from the Gaussian...
متن کاملUniversal Scaling, Beta Function, and Metal-Insulator Transitions
We demonstrate a universal scaling form of longitudinal resistance in the quantum critical region of metal-insulator transitions. This is based on numerical results of three-dimensional Anderson transitions (with and without magnetic field), two-dimensional quantum Hall plateau to insulator transition, as well as experimental data of the recently discovered two-dimensional metal-insulator trans...
متن کاملTwo Electron View on Metal-insulator Transition in Two Dimensions
The model of two electrons with Coulomb interaction on a two-dimensional (2D) disordered lattice is considered. It is shown that the interaction can give a sharp transition to delocalized states in a way similar to the Anderson transition in 3D. The localized phase appears when the ratio of the Coulomb energy to the Fermi energy becomes larger than some critical value dependent on the disorder....

Manganites are considered as subbranches of condensed matter physics with a great wealth of physical mechanisms. In this investigation we have studied the structural, electrical and magnetic properties of a series of La1-xCaxMnO3 manganite with x=0.1, 0.2, …,0.5. We observed that the crystal structure of this manganite, with small dopping, at room temperature is orthorhombic and by increasi...

Doping induced metal-insulator transition in two-dimensional Hubbard, t − U , and extended Hubbard, t − U − W , models. Abstract We show numerically that the nature of the doping induced metal-insulator transition in the two-dimensional Hubbard model is radically altered by the inclusion of a term, W , which depends upon a square of a single-particle nearest-neighbor hopping. This result is rea...
