Chemotherapeutic studies on transplantable mouse tumors.

چکیده
Transplants of tumors were made in the lower right hind leg, and treatment was begun when the tumor volume was 150-200 mm.3 For lymphosarcoma, this was 12 to 16 days; for mammary carcinoma A ? 179955, 10 to 15 days; for mammary carcinoma 5769, 10 to 15 days; and for solid Erlich ascites tumor, 6 to 8 days after inoculation. Both mammary carcinomas were spontaneous in Strain A mice obtained from the Halsted Laboratories at the University of Colorado. Drug response was determined by measuring with calipers and com paring tumor volumes in the treated animals with those in the controls. Re sults were evaluated as follows: Excellent, indicates a control volume 10 times or more that of the treated group; Good, from 6 to 10 times; Fair, from 2 to 6 times; and Poor, two times or less.

Induction of micronuclei in a transplantable murine tumor after multimodality treatment with cis-platin, radiation and hyperthermia
Background: Tumor response after multimodality treatment using combination of radiation, chemotherapeutic drugs and hyperthermia usually assessed by parameters such as tumor growth delay, volume doubling time and regression response. The study herein was conducted to investigate the usefulness of micronucleus assay for assessing the multimodality treatment. Materials and Methods: The ...
متن کاملInduced resistance to an indigenous transplantable mouse tumor.
Although the literature contains many refer ences to successful attempts to immunize animals against transplantable tumors, few deal with transplantable spontaneous tumors in inbred strains, and, in general, the results of these latter experiments have been negative. Aptekman and his co-workers (1-3), in a series of studies with an alcohol-soluble extract of methylcholanthrene-induced transplan...
متن کاملA Study of Spontaneous Tumors O F the Mouse by the Tissue Culture Method
Descriptions of the cytology and behavior of a number of transplantable tumors of the mouse in tissue cultures have been published, but in only a few instances have similar studies been undertaken on the spontaneous tumors arising in this animal. The wide range of tumor-susceptible as well as tumor-refractory inbred strains of mice available at the Roscoe B. Jackson Memorial Laboratory offered ...
متن کاملThe Effect of Testicle Extract on the Growth of Transplantable Mouse Tumors
Grafts of a transplantable mouse sarcoma designated as No. 180, and those of an attenuated strain of a more malignant Sarcoma S/37, treated with testicle extract, either fail to grow on inoculation or result in tumors of a lower growth rate than the controls. Autografts of spontaneous mouse tumors so treated show little if any effect, while the Bashford adenocarcinoma and the unattenuated S/37 ...
متن کاملDetection of Mouse Cytomegalovirus in Adenocarcinoma Bearing Razi/A Mice: Molecular and Pathological Studies
Despite a lot of research, the etiology and progression of breast cancer remain incompletely understood. Recently, human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) was reported as a risk factor for breast cancer. The aim of this study was to know whether breast cancer could be caused by cytomegalovirus or not? In this experiment seventeen samples of RAZI/A mice with spontaneous breast cancer were being gathered fr...
