Performance characterization of video-shot-change detection methods

چکیده
A number of automated shot-change detection methods for indexing a video sequence to facilitate browsing and retrieval have been proposed in recent years. Many of these methods use color histograms or features computed from block motion or compression parameters to compute frame differences. It is important to evaluate and characterize their performance so as to deliver a single set of algorithms that may be used by other researchers for indexing video databases. We present the results of a performance evaluation and characterization of a number of shot-change detection methods that use color histograms, block motion matching, or MPEG compressed data.

Compressed Domain Scene Change Detection Based on Transform Units Distribution in High Efficiency Video Coding Standard
Scene change detection plays an important role in a number of video applications, including video indexing, searching, browsing, semantic features extraction, and, in general, pre-processing and post-processing operations. Several scene change detection methods have been proposed in different coding standards. Most of them use fixed thresholds for the similarity metrics to determine if there wa...
متن کاملGradual Transition Detection Algorithms in Video Segmentation: A Survey
A large number of shot boundary detection, or equivalently, transition detection techniques have been developed in recent years. The shot boundary detection includes abrupt and gradual shot change detection. Gradual shot change detection is more challenging task than abrupt shot change detection. Thus aim of this paper is mainly to focus on gradual boundary detection. Previous researches relate...
متن کاملAction Change Detection in Video Based on HOG
Background and Objectives: Action recognition, as the processes of labeling an unknown action of a query video, is a challenging problem, due to the event complexity, variations in imaging conditions, and intra- and inter-individual action-variability. A number of solutions proposed to solve action recognition problem. Many of these frameworks suppose that each video sequence includes only one ...

For each problem, a solution based on information readily available in compressed video was presented. As the performance of the shot detection scheme suggests, it is possible to locate shot boundari...
متن کاملA Rapid and Robust Method for Shot Boundary Detection and Classification in Uncompressed MPEG Video Sequences
Shot boundary and classification is the first and most important step for further analysis of video content. Shot transitions include abrupt changes and gradual changes. A rapid and robust method for shot boundary detection and classification in MPEG compressed sequences is proposed in this paper. We firstly only decode I frames partly in video sequences to generate DC images and then calculate...
