CT angiography of the artery of Adamkiewicz with 64-section technology: first experience in children.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Preoperative localization of the artery of Adamkiewicz (AKA) may be useful in selected children in prevention of ischemic spinal complications of spinal or thoracoabdominal aortic surgery. The aim of our study was to investigate the ability of 64-section CT for assessing the AKA in children. MATERIALS AND METHODS Forty children (mean age, 7.5 +/- 5 years) underwent thor...
متن کاملAnterior spinal artery and artery of Adamkiewicz detected by using multi-detector row CT.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Our purpose was to evaluate the visualization of the artery of Adamkiewicz (AKA) and the anterior spinal artery (ASA) by using multi-detector row CT. Preoperative detection of the AKA and ASA is important for prevention of ischemic complications of thoracoabdominal aortic surgery. METHODS Data from contrast-enhanced CT of the abdomen of 19 consecutive patients with know...
متن کاملPreoperative visualization of the artery of Adamkiewicz by intra-arterial CT angiography.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE CT and MR angiographies have been reported to visualize the artery of Adamkiewicz (AKA) noninvasively to prevent spinal cord ischemia in surgery of thoracic descending aortic aneurysms. The purpose of this work was to compare the usefulness of CT angiography (CTA) with intra-arterial contrast injection (IACTA) with that of conventional CTA with intravenous contrast inject...

Background and purpose: Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is a systemic auto immune Rheumatoid diseases. Auto antibodies are detected in this disease, with diagnostic and prognostic properties. One of them is AKA which reacts with the fibrous keratin in epiderm and the stratum corneum of rat esophageal epithelium. Hence at first AKA – IFA kit was designed, then its sensitivety and specificity was me...
متن کاملAntikeratin antibodies in serum and synovial fluid show specificity for rheumatoid arthritis in a study of connective tissue diseases.
Tests for antikeratin antibodies (AKA) were performed on 2152 disease-associated and control sera by indirect immunofluorescence (IF) on rat oesophagus substrate. The incidence of AKA was significantly raised in rheumatoid arthritis (37%) in comparison with systemic sclerosis (8%), psoriasis (7%), ankylosing spondylitis (6%), systemic lupus erythematosus (3%), and normal controls (2%). AKA were...
