چکیده

Introduction Aminoglycoside antibiotics are proven medications for both human and veterinary use with broad-spectrum activity, particularly against gram negative bacteria.1 Many of these antibiotics are manufactured by bacterial culture (fermentation) processes, and as such can be a mixture of active compounds and not a single chemical compound. One example of an antibiotic manufactured by fermentation is gentamicin, an aminoglycoside antibiotic that is produced by Micromonospora echinospora (Micromonospora purpurea). Gentamicin sulfate is a mixture of four major compounds: gentamicins C1, C1a, C2, and C2a. Additionally, gentamicin C2b is commonly present as a minor component. These gentamicin congeners are closely related structurally, as summarized in Figure 1.

Determination of Gentamicin Sulphate Composition and Related Substances in Pharmaceutical Preparations by LC with Charged Aerosol Detection

A new, simple and repeatable liquid chromatography method with charged aerosol detection (LC-CAD) for the determination of gentamicin sulphate composition and related substances has been developed. Gentamicin lacks of chromophores, therefore its determination is quite problematic. Using a universal CAD enables to achieve good separation without sample derivatization. Mass spectrometry was emplo...

Determination of Olive Oil Adulteration by Principal Component Analysis with HPLC–Charged Aerosol Detector Data

Overview Purpose: To examine the use of targeted principal component analysis (PCA) with HPLC-charged aerosol detector data as a means of determining adulteration of olive oils. Method: Oil samples were analyzed as both untreated and hydrolyzed, using a C30 HPLC method and charged aerosol detection. PCA results were determined using peak area percent values of the acylglycerides and free fatty ...

Simple Separation and Detection Techniques for the Analysis of Carbohydrates

Carbohydrates are diffi cult to analyze because they are very polar compounds, exhibit similar structural characteristics, and do not have a suitable chromophore. Their analysis is often performed directly using high-performance anion-exchange chromatography with pulsed amperometric detection (HPAE-PAD) with a high pH mobile phase. This technique has been approved for use in a variety of offi c...

Quantification of Gentamicin by microbial assay technique and reverse phase HPLC

The preliminary research work carried to find out the concentration of Gentamicin in the raw material. Two different techniques used in this study for the quantification of Gentamicin. They are microbiological assay method and reversed phase HPLC. The concentration of Gentamicin was quantified even at very lower concentration by microbiological assay method and it is sensitive. The test organis...
