Using MODIS to retrieve the AOT over the region of Baikal
نویسندگان
چکیده
The aerosol optical thickness (AOT) over the region of Baikal was retrieved using the MODIS data and the V5.2 algorithm developed by NASA. The results were validated by the CE-318 observations. Though the R2 is not that high, the result could display the spatial distribution of aerosol. The AOT characteristics of spatial and temporal variation over the region of Baikal were analyzed: The mean AOTs in spring and summer are higher, with the highest value of 0.26 in May; and the mean AOTs in autumn and winter are lower and steady.

Multi-spatial Scale Aerosol Optical Thickness Mapping for Beijing Using Remote Sensing Technique
Aerosol particles play an important role in many atmospheric processes and affect global energy budget since they absorb and scatter solar radiation. In addition, aerosol particles take part in many heterogeneous chemical reactions and have adverse effects on human health. Retrieval of aerosol optical thickness (AOT) over bright land is still a challenging and imperative problem due to the comp...
متن کاملRetrieval of Aerosol Optical Thickness Using MODIS 500 × 500 m, a Study in Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta Region
Aerosol detection and monitoring by satellite observations has been substantially developed over the past decades. While several state-of-the-art aerosol retrieval techniques provide aerosol properties at global scale, high spatial detail that is suitable for urbanized regions is unavailable because most of the satellite-based products are at coarse resolution. A refined aerosol retrieval algor...

[1] The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) currently provides the most extensive aerosol retrievals on a global basis, but validation is limited to a small number of ground stations. This study presents a comprehensive evaluation of Collection 4 and 5 MODIS aerosol products using ground measurements from the Chinese Sun Hazemeter Network (CSHNET). The Collection 5 product use...

Aerosol detection and monitoring by satellite observations has been substantially developed over past decades. However, a new aerosol retrieval algorithm for the Modera...

The one-year (2001) record of aerosol data from the space borne Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) is analyzed focusing on the Mediterranean region. The MODIS aerosol optical thickness standard product (AOT at 550 nm) provided over both land and ocean is employed to evaluate the seasonal and spatial variability of the atmospheric particulate over the region. Expected accuracy...
