چکیده
Exercise 3.2d: Calculate weights on hydraulic-head and flow observations For the head observations, first calculate the total variance of measurement error for the head observations, by adding the variance for the elevation measurement and the variance for the water-level measurement. This total variance is 1.0025 m, as shown in Table 3.2. Then, calculate the weight as the inverse of this variance, which equals 0.9975 m. In the table ‘DATA AT HEAD LOCATIONS’ in the MODFLOW-2000 LIST output file, note that the square root of the weight (0.9988 m) is printed.

Uncertainty Analysis with Site-Specific Groundwater Models: Experiences and Observations
Groundwater flow and transport predictions are a major component of remedial action evaluations for contaminated groundwater at the Savannah River Site. Because all groundwater modeling results are subject to uncertainty from various causes; quantification of the level of uncertainty in the modeling predictions is beneficial to project decision makers. Complex site-specific models present formi...

One of the most essential and appropriate groundwater model components is accurate information of the recharge values among input data often introduced to the model as the percentage of rainfall of aquifers. The recharge values are influenced by many temporal and spatial factors. Firoozabad plain is one of the suitable plains for agriculture in the Fars province in which utilization of groundwa...
متن کاملUsing SWAT and SWAT-CUP for hydrological simulation and uncertainty analysis in arid and semi-arid watersheds (Case study: Zoshk Watershed, Shandiz, Iran)
The aims of this project was to assess the capability of SWAT model and SWAT-CUP software in hydrological simulation and to evaluate the uncertainty of SWAT model in estimating runoff in arid and semi-arid watersheds. Model calibration and uncertainty analysis were performed using the Sequential Uncertainty Fitting (SUFI2) algorithm. In the stage of calibration and validation of water flow, per...
متن کاملUsing atmospheric tracers to reduce uncertainty in groundwater recharge areas.
A Monte Carlo-based approach to assess uncertainty in recharge areas shows that incorporation of atmospheric tracer observations (in this case, tritium concentration) and prior information on model parameters leads to more precise predictions of recharge areas. Variance-covariance matrices, from model calibration and calculation of sensitivities, were used to generate parameter sets that accoun...
متن کاملAssessment of parametric uncertainty for groundwater reactive transport modeling
The validity of using Gaussian assumptions for model residuals in uncertainty quantification of a groundwater reactive transport model was evaluated in this study. Least squares regression methods explicitly assume Gaussian residuals, and the assumption leads to Gaussian likelihood functions, model parameters, and model predictions. While the Bayesian methods do not explicitly require the Gauss...
