Conventions spreading in open-ended systems
نویسنده
چکیده
We introduce a simple open-ended model which describes the emergence of a shared vocabulary. The ordering transition towards consensus is generated only by an agreement mechanism. This interaction defines a finite and small number of states, despite each individual having the ability to invent an unlimited number of new words. The existence of a phase transition is studied, analyzing the convergence times, the cognitive efforts of the agents and the scaling behaviour in memory and time. A (Very) Brief Introduction To Fluid Construction Grammar
Fluid Construction Grammar (FCG) is a new linguistic formalism designed to explore in how far a construction grammar approach can be used for handling open-ended grounded dialogue, i.e. dialogue between or with autonomous embodied agents about the world as experienced through their sensory-motor apparatus. We seek scalable, open-ended language systems by giving agents both the ability to use ex...
متن کاملConvention emergence through spreading mechanisms
In this paper we identify the spreading components required to design convention emergence mechanisms. We have empirically tested the effectiveness of our approach to emerge conventions in scenarios where the space of conventions is large. Moreover, we identify their shortcomings when used for the emergence of stable, global conventions despite unreliable communications (be them because of nois...
متن کاملRobust coordination in large convention spaces
Regulating the behavior of autonomous agents is necessary to solve coordination problems and minimize conflicts in multi-agent systems (MAS). Social conventions can be regarded as coordination schemes that can be employed by agents to successfully coordinate. However, to have agents agree on good conventions, without the need of a central authority, is a challenging issue. In this paper we desi...

Participants (N 1⁄4 224) indicated their level of agreement with six different family roles and provided...
