Learning to Recommend Accurate and Diverse Items

چکیده
In this study, we investigate diversified recommendation problem by supervised learning, seeking significant improvement in diversity while maintaining accuracy. In particular, we regard each user as a training instance, and heuristically choose a subset of accurate and diverse items as groundtruth for each user. We then represent each user or item as a vector resulted from the factorization of the user-item rating matrix. In our paper, we try to discover a factorization for matching the following supervised learning task. In doing this, we define two coupled optimization problems, parameterized matrix factorization and structural learning, to formulate our task. And we propose a diversified collaborative filtering algorithm (DCF) to solve the coupled problems. We also introduce a new pairwise accuracy metric and a normalized topic coverage diversity metric to measure the performance of accuracy and diversity respectively. Extensive experiments on benchmark datasets show the performance gains of DCF in comparison with the state-of-the-art algorithms.

T Towards a Perspective of Hybrid Approaches and Methodologies in Recommender Systems
Recommender Systems apply machine learning and data mining techniques to filter undetected information and can predict whether a user of a system would like a given resource based on his/her interests and preferences. To date a number of recommendation algorithms have been proposed, where Collaborative Filtering (CF) and Content-Based Filtering (CBF) are the two most famous and adopted recommen...

Goal: Researchers in the field of science education believe that peoplechr(chr('39')39chr('39'))s attitudes about learning will have a significant impact on their future learning and what they learn from science will not be unrelated to their views and attitudes. Accordingly, most questionnaires have been developed to measure attitudes toward science, especially about physics learning attitudes...
متن کاملSemTree: Ontology-Based Decision Tree Algorithm for Recommender Systems
Recommender systems play an important role in supporting people when choosing items from an overwhelming huge number of choices. So far, no recommender system makes use of domain knowledge. We are modeling user preferences with a machine learning approach to recommend people items by predicting the item ratings. Specifically, we propose SemTree, an ontology-based decision tree learner, that use...
متن کاملTowards Diverse Recommendation
In recent years great strides have been made in improving the accuracy of recommender systems from the point-of-view of their ability to predict users’ ratings for unrated content given a database of past ratings. In a context where the system should ultimately recommend a list of items to the end-user, such accurate rating predictions can be seen as just one possible input into the decision sy...
متن کاملA Framework for Recommending Relevant and Diverse Items
The traditional recommendation systems usually aim to improve the recommendation accuracy while overlooking the diversity within the recommended lists. Although some diversification techniques have been designed to recommend top-k items in terms of both relevance and diversity, the coverage of the user’s interest is overlooked. In this paper, we propose a general framework to recommend relevant...
