چکیده

3D solid textures are important data for computer graphics applications, and the amount of the data is increasing. When a large number of the 3D solid textures are stored as databases, similarity search techniques and classification techniques are essential for effective use of the databases. We have applied 3D HLAC (Higher Order Local Autocorrelation) masks to 3D solid textures for extracting shape descriptor indices. By using these indices, the database systems can search for similar 3D solid textures based on texture patterns. Since we have extended the 3D HLAC masks to handle multi resolutions of 3D solid textures by using pyramid structures, the search systems can search for various types of 3D solid textures. We have implemented an experimental system to test search and classification efficiency of 3D HLAC masks using multi resolution pyramidal structures, and the system successfully classified 3D solid textures in the databases based on similarity patterns. Key-Words: HLAC, Mask pattern, Solid texture, Resolution pyramid, Similarity search

PLBP: An effective local binary patterns texture descriptor with pyramid representation

Local binary pattern (LBP) is an effective texture descriptor which has successful applications in texture classification and face recognition. Many extensions are made for conventional LBP descriptors. One of the extensions is dominant local binary patterns which aim at extracting the dominant local structures in texture images. The second extension is representing LBP descriptors in Gabor tra...

A HLAC Shape Descriptor Extraction Method for 3D Solid Textures

Texture mapping has become the most important method to increase the level of detail for a 3D computer graphics model without increasing its geometric complexity. Procedural texture synthesis methods have been used to generate solid textures for 3D models. These methods use noise functions and generate various solid texture patterns. The number of 3D solid texture databases on the web is increa...

New Composite Shape and Texture Descriptors for 3D Model Retrieval

Nowadays, problem of shape and texture for 3D retrieval is still a challenge research. Although several methods exist, but we still have a space to improve the performance. In this paper, we aim to improve our previous 3D shape features and inserting texture features. We first do pose normalization as a process of adjusting the size, location, and orientation of a given object in a canonical sp...

Good Appearance and Shape Descriptors for Object Category Recognition

In the problem of object category recognition, we have studied different families of descriptors exploiting RGB and 3D information. Furthermore, we have proven practically that 3D shape-based descriptors are more suitable for this type of recognition due to low shape intra-class variance, as opposed to image texture-based. In addition, we have also shown how an efficient Naive Bayes Nearest Nei...

Multi-object Deformable Templates Dedicated to the Segmentation of Brain Deep Structures

We propose a new way of embedding shape distributions in a topological deformable template. These distributions rely on global shape descriptors corresponding to the 3D moment invariants. In opposition to usual Fourier-like descriptors, they can be updated during deformations at a relatively low cost. The moment-based distributions are included in a framework allowing the management of several ...
