Contractible bonds in graphs

چکیده
This paper addresses a problem posed by Oxley (Matroid Theory, Cambridge University Press, Cambridge, 1992) for matroids. We shall show that ifG is a 2-connected graph which is not a multiple edge, and which has no K5-minor, then G has two edge-disjoint non-trivial bonds B for which G/B is 2-connected. © 2004 Elsevier Inc. The reliability Wiener number of cartesian product graphs
Reliability Wiener number is a modification of the original Wiener number in which probabilities are assigned to edges yielding a natural model in which there are some (or all) bonds in the molecule that are not static. Various probabilities naturally allow modelling different types of chemical bonds because chemical bonds are of different types and it is well-known that under certain condition...
متن کاملContractible Edges in 2-Connected Locally Finite Graphs
In this paper, we prove that every contraction-critical 2-connected infinite graph has no vertex of finite degree and contains uncountably many ends. Then, by investigating the distribution of contractible edges in a 2-connected locally finite infinite graph G, we show that the closure of the subgraph induced by all the contractible edges in the Freudenthal compactification of G is 2-arc-connec...
متن کاملContractible Cliques in k-Connected Graphs
Kawarabayashi proved that for any integer k ≥ 4, every k-connected graph contains two triangles sharing an edge, or admits a k-contractible edge, or admits a k-contractible triangle. This implies Thomassen’s result that every triangle-free k-connected graph contains a k-contractible edge. In this paper, we extend Kawarabayashi’s technique and prove a more general result concerning k-contractibl...

متن کاملExtendability of Contractible Configurations for Nowhere-Zero Flows and Modulo Orientations
Let H be a connected graph and G be a supergraph of H . It is trivial that for any k-flow (D, f ) of G, the restriction of (D, f ) on the edge subset E(G/H) is a k-flow of the contracted graph G/H . However, the other direction of the question is neither trivial nor straightforward at all: for any k-flow (D′, f ′) of the contracted graph G/H , whether or not the supergraph G admits a k-flow (D,...
