Synthesis and Characterization of Novel PVA/SiO2-TiO2 Hybrid Fibers

چکیده
Hybrid sols of poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA)/Silicon oxide-titanium oxide (SiO2-TiO2) were prepared with tetraethoxylsilane and tetrabutyl titanate as precursor using Sol-Gel method. PVA/SiO2-TiO2 hybrid fibers were prepared by drawing from the hybrid sols using dip-coating method and aging treatment. The spinnability of hybrid sols was investigated. Spinnable time (t) and spinnable length (l) of hybrid sols increased with either the PVA content or the molar ratio of SiO2 and TiO2. The hybrid fibers were characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Ultraviolet Visible Spectrometry (UV-Vis) and (Thermo-gravimetric Analysis) TGA. FT-IR results suggested that PVA was linked with (SiO2-TiO2) network by chemical bonds. SEM measurements indicated that when the fibers arrives the maximum spinning length, the diameter of the fibers was about 50 μm, and the whole system was homogeneous. XRD results revealed that the crystallinity of hybrid fibers was decreased distinctly. UV-Vis measurements confirmed that the shielding properties to Ultraviolet (UV) were greatly improved with titania filled in the hybrid fibers. TG measurements suggested that the hybrid fibers show better resistance to heat than pure PVA fibers. Keyword: sol-gel method; PVA; Silicon oxide-titanium oxide; hybrid fibers OPEN ACCESS

متن کاملDegradation and removal of organic pollutants by BaFe2O4 nanostructures, synthesis and characterization
BaFe2O4 nanostructures have been synthesized through a simple sonochemical reduction approach. X-ray diffraction characterization suggested that the product consists of cubic phase pure BaFe2O4. The as-prepared products were also characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). An X-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDX) study further confirmed t...
متن کاملSynthesis and characterization of a novel Au nanocatalyst with increased thermal stability.
We report the synthesis of a new Au nanocatalyst with increased thermal stability. This catalyst system consisted of gold nanoparticles attached to functionalized TiO2/SiO2 core-shell nanocomposites, together with the encapsulation of mesoporous silica. The synthesis process mainly involved four steps, which included the synthesis of the TiO2/SiO2 core-shell composites, synthesis of the Au/TiO2...

متن کاملSynthesis and characterization of maleimide-functionalized polystyrene-SiO2/TiO2 hybrid nanocomposites by sol–gel process
Maleimide-functionalized polystyrene (PSMA-SiO2/TiO2) hybrid nanocomposites were prepared by sol-gel reaction starting from tratraethoxysilane (TEOS) and titanium isopropoxide in the solution of polystyrene maleimide in 1,4-dioxane. The hybrid films were obtained by the hydrolysis and polycondensation of TEOS and titanium isopropoxide in maleimide-functionalized polystyrene solution followed by...
