Entropically Damped Artificial Compressibility for SPH

چکیده
The Entropically Damped Artificial Compressibility (EDAC) method of Clausen [2013] is an interesting alternative to the traditional artifical compressibility technique. We apply the EDAC method in the context of Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics. In this work we present preliminary results for this method. The method is easy to implement in a standard SPH framework. Our simulations are compared with those of the Transport Velocity Formulation of Adami and Hu [2013] as well as a standard SPH formulation where necessary. The results appear very promising and seem comparable to those of the TVF method. Like the TVF, it does not produce spurious pressure oscillations. Unlike the TVF, which cannot be directly applied to free-surface problems, the new method has no such difficulty.

Three-dimensional characteristic approach for incompressible thermo-flows and influence of artificial compressibility parameter
In this paper the characteristics of unsteady three-dimensional incompressible flows with heat transfer are obtained along with artificial compressibility of Chorin. At first, compatibility equations and pseudo characteristics for three-dimensional flows are derived from five governing equations (continuity equation, Momentum equations in three directions, and energy equation) and then results ...

متن کاملPresenting a Modified SPH Algorithm for Numerical Studies of Fluid-Structure Interaction Problems
A modified Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) method is proposed for fluid-structure interaction (FSI) problems especially, in cases which FSI is combined with solid-rigid contacts. In current work, the modification of the utilized SPH concerns on removing the artificial viscosities and the artificial stresses (which such terms are commonly used to eliminate the effects of tensile and numeri...

In this study, inelastic constitutive modelling is considered for the simulation of shear-thinning fluids through a circular channel. Numerical solutions are presented for power-law inelastic model, considering axisymmetric Poiseuille flow through a channel. The numerical simulation of such fluid is performed by using the Galerkin finite element approach based on artificial compression method (...

We compare new observations on the kinematic characteristics of the damped Lyα systems against results from numerical SPH simulations to test the predictions of hierarchical galaxy formation. This exercise is particularly motivated by recent numerical results on the cross-section of damped Lyα systems. Our analysis focuses on the velocity widths ∆v of ≈ 50 low-ion absorption profiles from our s...
