Applications of Synchronously Pumped Dye . Lasers to Time - Resolved Emission and Absorption Spectroscopy

چکیده
S u m m a r y . Methods of generation and measurement of tunable ultrashort light pulses from c.w. synchronously pumped dye-lasers are described. Conditions for optimal pulse shape are discussed and experiments to determine absolute dye-laser cavity length, pulse-to-pulse reproducibility and pulse substructure arc described. Methods of applying synchronously pumped dye-lasers to time-resolved emission and absorption spectroscopy are described. Results on the orientationM motion of oxazine in a variety of solvents are described and discussed, in terms of the hydrodynamic boundary condition. Fluorescence data on the solvent-dependent excited-state dynamics of anilinonaphthalene sulphonate are presented and discussed. I t is suggested that the very rapid radiationless transition observed in aqueous solution corresponds to electron transfer from the excited molecule to a nearby solvent trap.

HEAT TREATMENT AND OPTICAL SPECTROSCOPY OF CR4+:GGG FOR PASSIVELY Q-SWITCHING ND:GARNET LASERS
High quality GGG:Cr,Ca crystal for passive Q-switching Nd:garnet lasers has been grown by the Czochralski method. Thermal treatment of GGG crystals co-doped with Cr4+ and Ca2+ at different temperatures is investigated. The absorption spectra were resolved into different peaks, of modified Gaussian line-shape. Transition from octahedral sites to tetrahedral ones is thermally activated. An...

Over the last few years synchronously pumped dye lasers have been used to study a range of relaxation processes [1]. The wide wavelength tunability available gives an important advantage over passively mode-locked systems [2,3] when sub-picosecond time resolution is not required. In order to study smaller molecules more amenable to theoretical description it is important to extend the high repe...
متن کاملTime-resolved measurements of emission and absorption in a long pulse duration XeCl* laser
2014 In this paper we describe time-resolved absorption and emission studies of an XeCl* laser discharge. The studies we carried out in order to gain a better understanding of the causes leading to the premature termination of both spontaneous emission and laser pulses in our device. This is a feature showed by all discharge pumped rare gas halide lasers. J. Physique 45 (1984) 1449-1456 SEPTEMB...
متن کاملUV absorption spectroscopy in optically dense fireballs using achromatic frequency doubling of a broadband modeless dye laser
Optical diagnostics of fireballs, such as in high explosives and metal dust cloud combustion, are typically done in emission due to the intense luminosity, but because of the optical thickness of the fireball, the emission measurement is typically only representative of information near the surface of the fireball. Absorption techniques provide a path averaged measurement and give information a...
