چکیده

Mid-infrared (IR) spectra of a series of calcium silicate hydrates (C-S-H) gels synthesised from C3S in the presence of magnesium oxide show many similarities with the mid-IR spectra of pure C-S-H gels. However, the presence of the vibration bands attributed to brucite is observed in all spectra of C-S-H synthesised with MgO, although only the sample with the highest CaO/SiO2 ratio (1.8) reveals a large shoulder centred at 530 cm , which has been assigned to the presence of magnesium with a four-fold coordination inserted in the silica chains of the C-S-H gel. The postulated formation of magnesium silicate hydrates (M-S-H) gel was detected by scanning electron microscope and energy dispersive analysis of X-rays in some areas of the C-S-H gel with the lowest CaO/SiO2 ratio (0.66).

Hydration of tricalcium silicate in the presence of synthetic calcium–silicate–hydrate

The early age-hydration of tricalcium silicate, the main chemical compound in Portland cement, was studied in the presence of synthetic calcium silicate hydrate (C–S–H) addition having C/S ratios 1⁄4 0.8 and 1.2. Isothermal conduction calorimetry, scanning electron microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry and Si MAS NMR were employed in order to investigate events occurring during various ...

Green Synthesis of Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles using Garlic skin extract and Its Characterization

Plant-mediated synthesis of metal oxide nanoparticles is a promising alternative to the traditional method of physical and chemical synthesis. In this paper, we report the green synthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnONPs) by a biological method. During the study, Zinc oxide nanoparticles were synthesized by Allium sativum skin (garlic skin) extract. Formation of zinc oxide nanoparticles has ...

The Effect of Nano-Additives on the Hydration Resistance of Materials Synthesized From the MgO-CaO System (RESEARCH NOTE)

In this study, the effect of variety of Nano- additives doping on the hydration resistance of the MgO-CaO system was investigated. Samples were prepared from calcined dolomite and magnesite. Nano-additives that contained cations with various valences (trivalent and tetravalent) used as  a dopant. The bulk density, apparent porosity and hydration resitance were studied and evaluated. Also, phase...

Influence of lead, chromium and zinc ions as toxic heavy metals between C-S-H phases based on C3S

Tricalcium silicate (C3S) as clinker minerals was synthesized to investigate the solidification/stabilization (S/S) mechanism of lead, chromium and zinc ions on cement matrix. Effects of various hydration phases on the S/S mechanism were analyzed using XRD, SEM-EDS and heat evolution. Lead, chromium and zinc leachability from solidified hydration phases were also investigated using the toxicity...
