Phenolics from Cell Suspension Cultures of Penstemon serrulatus; Relation to Plant Organs
نویسندگان
چکیده
By repeated selection of pigment portions of tissue the red callus induced from root seed lings of Penstemon serrulatus Menz. was chosen for suspension culture, which was maintained in Schenk and Hildebrandt medium supplemented with naphthaleneacetic acid (0.2 mg/1), 6-benzylaminopurine (2 mg/1) and sucrose (50 g/1). From the cultured cells eight phenolic compounds were isolated. They were identified as cyanidin 3-O-glucoside, delphinidin 3-0glucoside, luteolin, luteolin 7-O-glucoside, norartocarpetin 7-O-glucoside, verbascoside, martynoside and leucosceptoside A. The kind of cell line, its age and light irradiation were important factors in flavonoid production, but production of phenylpropanoid glycosides was found to be unaffected by these factors. The phenolic composition found in the cell culture was compared with those in the flowers and leaves

Biotransformation of salicylaldehyde to salicin using Varthemia persica cell suspension cultures
Cell cultures of Varthemia persica DC. have been studied to evaluate their abilities in biotransformation of aromatic and aliphatic precursors. V. Persica (Asteraceae) is an aromatic plant growing in Iran. V. persica contain different terpens but its cell culture does not posses these compounds. Callus cultures of V. persica was established ...

A procedure was developed for rapid in vitro germination of Linum album seeds by scarification and exposing to gibberellic acid (GA3) and kinetin (Kn). Concentrations of podophyllotoxin (PTOX) and related aryltetralin lignans α-peltatin, β-peltatin, 5’-demethoxy-6-methoxypodophyllotoxin and 6-methoxypodophyllotoxin (MPTOX) in L. album fresh plant org...
متن کاملProduction of Arbutin by Biotransformation of Hydroquinone Using Peganum harmala, Varthemia persica and Pycnocycla spinosa Cell Suspension Cultures
Cell cultures of Varthemia persica, Peganum harmala and Pycnocycla spinosa have been studied to evaluate their abilities to bioconvert exogenous hydroquinone. Arbutin is an important substance that has several pharmaceutical applications; therefore, we have established V. persica and P. spinosa cultures which seem to be able to metabolize hydroquinone. C...
متن کاملElicitation of Phenolics from the Micropropagated Endangered Medicinal Plant Calligonum polygonoides L. (Polygonoaceae)
BACKGROUND Calligonum polygonoides L. subsp. comosum (L'Hér.) Sosk. is a plant species belonging to family Polygonaceae. Susceptibility to threaten, presence of various chemical constituents, and many medicinal effects reported for this plant in addition to rareness of in vitro culture studies have fuelled the need for its micropropagation and phytochemical investigations of the produced cultur...
متن کاملEffects of Diode and He-Ne Laser on In Vitro Production of Anthocyanin in Apple Cell Suspension Culture
Plant cell cultures could be used as an important tool for biochemical production, ranging from natural pigments to pharmaceutical products. Anthocyanin is affected by a variety of factors. Light, an important plant environmental factor, influences the anthocyanin production in vegetative plant tissues. Here, we have investigated the influence of the blue laser-diode (BLD) and red laser-He Ne (...
