چکیده

Bioassay tests were carried out to investigate the susceptibility status of two (3rd and 4th) instar larvae of Culex quenquifasciatus Say populations of Dhaka city against two organophosphate (malathion and chloropyrifos) and two pyrithroid (cypermethrin and lambdacyhalothrin) insecticides. The LC50 values of malathion, chloropyrifos, cypermetrin and lambdacyhalothrin against the 3rd instar larvae were 0.33, 0.02, 0.007 and 0.003 ppm, respectively; and against the 4th instar larvae were 0.426, 0.028, 0.008 and 0.004 ppm, respectively. On the other hand, the LC90 values of the insecticides were 4.448, 0.079, 0.073, 0.014 ppm, respectively for the 3rd instar larvae and 6.032, 0.113, 0.067, 0.019 ppm, respectively for the 4th instar larvae. mvi-ms‡¶ct Bioassay cix¶vi gva ̈‡g PviwU KxUbvkK e ̈envi K‡i XvKv kn‡ii Culex quenquifasciatus Say gkvi Z...Zxq Ges PZz_© jvf©v `kvi susceptibility status Aby mÜvb Kiv n‡q†Q| Z...Zxq jvf©v `kvq malathion, chloropyrifos, cypermetrin and lambdacyhalothrin KxUbvk‡Ki LC50 gvb h_vμ‡g 0.33, 0.02, 0.007 Ges 0.003 wcwcGg; †hLv‡b PZz_© jvf©v `kvq gvb h_vμ‡g 0.426, 0.028, 0.008 Ges 0.004 wcwcGg| D‡j−L ̈, PviwU KxUbvkK e ̈envi K‡i Z...Zxq jvf©v `kvi Rb ̈ LC90 gvb cvIqv †M‡Q h_vμ‡g 4.448, 0.079, 0.073 Ges 0.014 wcwcGg; PZz_© jvf©v `kvq gvb h_vμ‡g 6.032, 0.113, 0.067 Ges 0.019 wcwcGg |

Larvicidal potential of Cyathea species against Culex quinquefasciatus

Resistance to insecticides has persuaded researchers to find new methods to control Culex quinquefasciatus proliferation. Plants may be a source of alternative agents for mosquito control due to ever-growing insecticide resistance in mosquito vectors and environmental imbalance caused by synthetic insecticides. The present study was intended to study the larvicidal activity of selected Cyathea ...

Adulticidal & larvicidal efficacy of three neonicotinoids against insecticide susceptible & resistant mosquito strains.

BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVES Due to ever growing insecticide resistance in mosquitoes to commonly used insecticides in many parts of the globe, there is always a need for introduction of new insecticides for the control of resistant vector mosquitoes. In this study, larvicidal and adulticidal efficacies of three neonicotinoids (imidacloprid, thiacloprid and thiamethoxam) were tested against resistan...

Efficacy of two organophosphorus insecticides, Reldan & Dursban against the larvae of Culex quinquefasciatus.

BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVES The resistance in vectors to conventional insecticides warrants development of newer insecticides for mosquito control besides use of other counter-measures. The present study was undertaken to test the efficacy of a new and toxicologically safe organophosphorus compound, Reldan (chlorpyrifos-methyl) and compare its efficacy with Dursban (chlorphyrifos-ethyl) against lar...

Susceptibility of field-collected mosquitoes in central New Jersey to organophosphates and a pyrethroid.

Chemical insecticides are the primary means to control mosquitoes, and mosquito control programs must regularly monitor for resistance of mosquito vectors to commonly used insecticides to ensure the efficacy and sustainability of active ingredients. We performed insecticide resistance bioassays to test the susceptibility of field-collected mosquitoes in central New Jersey to 1 larvicide (temeph...

Baseline Susceptibility of Filarial Vector Culex quinquefasciatus (Diptera: Culicidae) to Five Insecticides with Different Modes of Action in Southeast of Iran

Background Culex quinquefasciatus (Diptera: Culicidae) is an important vector for many human diseases. The aim of this study was to evaluate the susceptibility level of larval and adult stages of Cu. quinquefasciatus to different groups of WHO recommended insecticides for vector control. Methods Larval stages of the Culex mosquitoes were collected from their natural habitats in Rafsanjan Coun...
