On the Inconsistency of Equilibrium Refinement∗
نویسنده
چکیده
Consistency and optimality together with converse consistency provide an illuminating and novel characterization of the equilibrium concept (Peleg and Tijs, 1996). But (together with non-emptiness) they preclude refinements of the equilibrium notion and selection of a unique equilibrium (Norde et al., 1996). We suggest two escape routes: By generalizing the concept of strict equilibrium we question the practical relevance of the existence requirement for refinements. To allow for equilibrium selection we suggest more complex reduced games which capture the inclinations of “players who already left”. ∗The author is thankful for comments by Martin Dufwenberg, Jörg Oechssler and Klaus Ritzberger and the constructive advice of two anonymous referees and the editor in charge. †Max Planck Institute for Research into Economic Systems, Strategic Interaction Group, Kahlaische Str. 10, 07745 Jena, Germany

EFFECT OF COOLING RATE AND GRAIN REFINEMENT ON THE MICROSEGREGATION IN Al-4.8 wt.% Cu ALLOY
Microsegregation is one of the most important phenomena occurs during solidification. It usually results in formation of some unexpected second phases which generally affect the mechanical properties and specially reduce the workability of casting products. The aim of this research is to study the effect of cooling rate and grain refinement on the microsegregation in Al-4.8 wt.% Cu. For this p...

Monetary policy rule is an approach to avoid time inconsistency problem as regarded by new classical economist to choose a time plan for policy making in order to maximize householdsâ well-being. The foundation of time inconsistency problem is not coincidence of expectations as an ex-ante variable, which is expected variable, with actual variable as an ex-post variable. Expectations in Finn K...
متن کاملInvestigating the Effect of Optimum Welding Parameters on the Microstructural and Mechanical Properties of St37 Steel and 316L Stainless Steel Welded by the Friction Stir Welding Process
In this research, St37 and 316L steel sheets were welded using friction stir welding (FSW) process and effective parameters such as the rotational speed, linear speed of the tool, pin diameter, and their appropriate values were studied. The microstructure, hardness, and strength of the different welding regions were investigated. It was observed that in the stir zone (SZ), a mechanical operatio...
متن کاملV & V through Inconsistency Tracking and Analysis
In this paper we describe a research agenda for a study into the use of inconsistency analysis as a tool for software V&V, and in particular, the use of category theory as a basis for modeling consistency relationships between the various artifacts of software development, including specifications, design, test cases, etc. Our expectation is that inconsistency analysis is fundamental to much of...
