چکیده
PURPOSE To report concomitant use of fluorescein angiography (FA) and optical coherence tomography (OCT) in a case of pre-existing pseudomacular hole (PMH) and macular choroidal neovascularization (CNV) treated with photodynamic therapy (PDT). METHODS CASE REPORT RESULTS A 63-year-old man who received laser treatment for branch retinal vein occlusion in 1993 developed an asymptomatic macular epiretinal membrane 2 years later. In 2001, the patient complained of metamorphopsia. Biomicroscopy showed a PMH, confirmed by OCT. One year later, metamorphopsia suddenly increased and visual acuity dropped from 20/20 to 20/70. FA and OCT revealed subfoveal occult CNV. PDT was successfully performed. FA and OCT were essential diagnostic tools during the follow-up. CONCLUSIONS The case presented stresses the importance of different tools for accurate diagnosis and proper follow-up of macular diseases. (Eur J Ophthalmol 2003; 13: 718-21).

Transpupilary thermotherapy of occult subfoveal choroidal neovascularization secondary to age related macular degeneration
Abstract Background: Transpupillary thermotherapy is a new treatment for subfoveal choroidal neovascularization which needs further evaluation. This study was aimed to evaluate the efficacy of transpupillary thermotherapy on regression of occult subfoveal choroidal neovascularization with or without pigment epithelial detachment in patients with age-related macular degeneration. Methods: In a ...
متن کاملIncremental cost effectiveness of laser photocoagulation for subfoveal choroidal neovascularization.
OBJECTIVE To perform a patient preference-based, incremental cost-effectiveness analysis for laser treatment of subfoveal choroidal neovascularization. DESIGN Computer-based econometric modeling. METHODS The cost effectiveness of laser photocoagulation therapy was compared with the natural course of subfoveal choroidal neovascularization. The model applied long-term visual data from previou...
متن کاملBaseline subfoveal choroidal thickness as an indicator for bevacizumab outcomes in central retinal vein occlusion
Background: Retinal vein occlusions are one of the most common form of retinal vascular disorders and could lead to vision loss due to macular edema, macular ischemia and sequelae from neovascularization. Anti-venous endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) treatment is the choice strategy of treatment for patients with macular edema secondary to central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO). There is an ...
متن کامل[Treatment of angioid streaks with phothodynamic therapy].
CLINICAL CASE A patient had bilateral angioid streaks complicated by cicatricial degeneration in the left eye and subfoveal choroidal neovascularization in the right eye. Photodynamic therapy resulted in a favorable response with normalization of the visual acuity and angiographic resolution of the lesions. DISCUSSION The most serious complication of angioid streaks is choroidal neovasculariz...

OBJECTIVE To examine the efficacy and safety of photodynamic therapy with verteporfin in the treatment of subfoveal choroidal neovascularization secondary to central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC). DESIGN Prospective interventional, noncomparative case series. METHODS After the diagnosis of a subfoveal choroidal neovascularization secondary to CSC, 26 eyes of 24 patients were treated with p...
