This paper series elaborates the global challenge, future visions, and strategic directions. Author James Goldstein is a Senior Fellow at Tellus Institute where has more than twenty years experience in environmental research. His research has focused on pollution prevention, solid waste management, green planning, and watershed protection. His current research centers on the development of analytic methods and stakeholder processes in support of community-based sustainability initiatives, including the incorporation of global perspectives, developing long-range scenarios, and training programs for governmental agencies. He has authored numerous studies and presented widely on environmental and sustainability issues.
