Biosorption of nickel(II) ions on Baker's yeast
نویسندگان
چکیده
The biosorption of nickel(II) ions by deactivated protonated yeast was investigated with respect to the initial pH and initial metal ion concentration. The kinetics of sorption was also followed based on the amounts of metal sorbed at various time intervals for different yeast doses. The equilibrium data could be fitted by the Langmuir isotherm model. The adsorption capacity was pH dependent with a maximum value of 11.4 mg/g at a pH of 6.75. The nickel(II) ion uptake was pseudo-second order with respect to metal concentration and was yeast dose dependent. The rate constant, the equilibrium sorption capacity and the initial sorption rate are reported.

Kinetics of biosorption of cadmium on Baker's yeast.
In the present study the kinetics of biosorption of cadmium(II) ions by deactivated protonated yeast converted to sodium form was investigated for different initial concentrations of the metal ion (10-100 ppm) and different sorbent dosages (0.1-2.0 g) at a pH of 6.5. The adsorption process occurred in four distinct steps and the rates for these steps decreased sequentially. The rate of cadmium ...

Background and Objective: Nickel (II) and cadmium (II) are important in environmental pollutant. Biosorption of heavy metals can be an effective process for the removal and recovery of heavy metal ions from aqueous solutions because of the decrease in sludge problems, economical issues, high efficiency and compatibility with the environment.Materials and Methods: power of wasted activated sludg...

ss as: Sa t bark. Abstract Biosorption of nickel ions from aqueous solutions by modified loquat bark waste (MLB) has been investigated in a batch biosorption process. The biosorbent MLB was characterized by FTIR analysis. The extent of biosorption of Ni(II) ions was found to be dependent on solution pH, initial nickel ions concentration, biosorbent dose, contact time, and temperature. The exper...
متن کاملBiosorption of monovalent and divalent ions on baker's yeast.
Biosorption of monovalent ions Na+ and K+, by deactivated protonated yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) at controlled pH, was compared with biosorption of divalent ions Ca2+ and Mg2+ to help to understand the underlying bindingmechanisms. The adsorption for monovalent ions was accompanied by H+ release. Divalent ions were sorbed by proton displacement, and also an additional mode not accompanied ...

The aim of the present study was to reduce the Ni (II) ions present in the waste water which is highly toxic to the environment. Biosorption experiments were carried out in a batch process which includes the factors like pH, contact time, size variation, adsorbent dose and metal ion concentration. The maximum percentage removal of Ni (II) ions in the aqueous solution is 96.95 % at pH 6 and cont...
