Population genomics: Linkage disequilibrium holds the key
نویسندگان
چکیده
Current efforts to find disease-causing genes depend on patterns of linkage disequilibrium in human populations. Recent work has shown that linkage disequilibrium can extend over much larger genomic regions than expected, and that the patterns of linkage disequilibrium can differ markedly among populations.

Recombinational Landscape and Population Genomics of Caenorhabditis elegans
Recombination rate and linkage disequilibrium, the latter a function of population genomic processes, are the critical parameters for mapping by linkage and association, and their patterns in Caenorhabditis elegans are poorly understood. We performed high-density SNP genotyping on a large panel of recombinant inbred advanced intercross lines (RIAILs) of C. elegans to characterize the landscape ...
متن کاملThe Pattern of Linkage Disequilibrium in Livestock Genome
Linkage disequilibrium (LD) is bases of genomic selection, genomic marker imputation, marker assisted selection (MAS), quantitative trait loci (QTL) mapping, parentage testing and whole genome association studies. The Particular alleles at closed loci have a tendency to be co-inherited. In linked loci this pattern leads to association between alleles in population which is known as LD. Two metr...
متن کاملAccurate Estimation of Effective Population Size in the Korean Dairy Cattle Based on Linkage Disequilibrium Corrected by Genomic Relationship Matrix
Linkage disequilibrium between markers or genetic variants underlying interesting traits affects many genomic methodologies. In many genomic methodologies, the effective population size (Ne) is important to assess the genetic diversity of animal populations. In this study, dairy cattle were genotyped using the Illumina BovineHD Genotyping BeadChips for over 777,000 SNPs located across all autos...
متن کاملPopHuman: the human population genomics browser
The 1000 Genomes Project (1000GP) represents the most comprehensive world-wide nucleotide variation data set so far in humans, providing the sequencing and analysis of 2504 genomes from 26 populations and reporting >84 million variants. The availability of this sequence data provides the human lineage with an invaluable resource for population genomics studies, allowing the testing of molecular...
متن کاملA comparison of linkage disequilibrium measures for fine-scale mapping.
Linkage mapping generally localizes disease genes to 1- to 2-cM regions of chromosomes. In theory, further refinement of location can be achieved by population-based studies of linkage disequilibrium between disease locus alleles and alleles at adjacent markers. One approach to localization, dubbed simple disequilibrium mapping, is to determine the relative location of the disease locus by plot...
