WB-JRC-UT's Participation in TAC 2009: Update Summarization and AESOP Tasks

چکیده
In this paper we describe our participation in the Summarization track at the 2009 Text Analysis Conference (TAC). The Summarization track was composed of two tasks: Update Summarization and Automatically Evaluating Summaries of Peers (AESOP). We submitted two runs for the former and four for the latter. In the following sections we describe our runs and discuss the results attained.

PolyU's Experimentation with Guided Summarization
In addition to the familiar tasks of update summarization and automatic summary evaluation, the TAC 2010 summarization track includes a new task: guided summarization. It is designed to “encourage a deeper linguistic (semantic) analysis of the source documents” in order to generate a summary guided by a given set of aspects. The new task is an upgrade of query-focused summarization in that an a...
متن کاملPolyU at TAC 2009
PolyU has participated in both the two tasks in the TAC 2009 summarization track, including the update summarization task and the automatically evaluating summaries of peers (AESOP) task. The update summarization task is to generate short fluent multi-document summaries of news articles. For each topic, a topic statement and two chronologically ordered newswire document sets are given. The task...
متن کاملCLASSY 2009: Summarization and Metrics
This year the CLASSY team participated in the update summary task and made four submissions to summarization evaluation (AESOP). Our AESOP submissions used combinations of ROUGE scores along with an update (or newness) score. We also use these new metrics, which we call Nouveau ROUGE, to help train our system and evaluate new ideas on computing update summaries. CLASSY (Clustering, Linguistics,...
متن کاملPKUTM participation at TAC 2011 Summarization Track
In this paper, we present details of the participation of PKUTM in the Guided Summarization and AESOP tracks at TAC 2011. For the Guided Summarization task, we develop two extractive summarization systems based on manifold ranking and Integer Linear Programming (ILP) respectively. In our first system, we score the sentences by linearly combining manifold ranking scores and scores based on other...
متن کاملBEwT-E for TAC 2009's AESOP Task
This paper describes BEwT-E (Basic Elements with Transformations for Evaluation), an automatic system for summarization evaluation. BEwT-E is a newer, more sophisticated implementation of the BE framework that uses transformations to match BEs (minimal-length syntactically well-formed units) that are semantically similar but are lexically and/or syntactically different. We present BEwTE's resul...
