Concurrent WAVE/Matlab Simulink Simulation Applied to HSDI Diesel ECU Calibration
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper describes an application of an engine cycle simulation code (WAVE) in co-simulation with a control and dynamics modelling package (Matlab Simulink) to provide total vehicle system modelling capability. The models presented form the basis of an Analytical Calibration CAE toolset allowing the definition of many electronic control unit (ECU) calibration parameters in the CAE environment. Results are presented for a medium capacity, automotive high speed direct injection (HSDI) turbo-charged diesel, fitted with a variable geometry turbine (VGT). These show a high predictive accuracy for engine mass air flow (MAF) and intake manifold pressure (MAP) during transient conditions. The aim of the technique is to reduce the amount of dynamometer-based and vehicle calibration and this is demonstrated by analytically calibrating the ECU to improve vehicle performance.

Chip simulation of automotive ECUs
Modern ECUs contain ten thousands of engine parameters that need to be tuned. Calibration of all these parameters is time consuming and complex. Simulation on a PC could help to automate and speed up the calibration process, in particular if simulation runs much faster (e. g. 20 times) than real-time. However, engine calibration is typically performed by an OEM, while the ECU code is owned by t...

In this paper an operational control technique, based on using the fuzzy logic controller (FLC), is developed and applied to a proposed Photovoltaic-Diesel-Battery (PVDB) hybrid system. The proposed scheme is modeled and simulated using MATLAB-SIMULINK and FUZZY toolbox. The FLC is designed, to work simultaneously with the commonly used ON-OFF controller, for optimizing the operation of the PVD...
