A semantic repository for heterogeneous ontologies

چکیده

Ontohub is a repository engine for managing distributed heterogeneous ontologies. The distributed nature enables communities to share and exchange their contributions easily. The heterogeneous nature makes it possible to integrate ontologies written in various ontology languages. It supports a wide range of formal logical and ontology languages building on the OntoIOp.org project and allows for complex inter-theory (concept) mappings and relationships with formal semantics. Ontohub aims at satisfying a subset of the requirements for an Open Ontology Repository (OOR). OOR is a long-term international initiative, which has not resulted in a complete implementation so far, but established requirements and designed an architecture. Furthermore, Ontohub is being developed in close connection with the Distributed Ontology Language, which is going to be submitted as response to the Object Management Group’s Ontology, Model and Specification Integration and Interoperability (OntoIOp) Request For Proposal.

A System for Semantic Integration of Geologic Maps via Ontologies∗

This paper describes a prototype system for registering geologic data sets through ontologies to assist in integrating and querying heterogeneous geologic data sets. The system consists of three components: an ontology repository, the data set registration, and ontology-aware applications. User-defined ontologies in OWL are saved and used by the system. Each data set must be registered before i...

What Four Million Mappings Can Tell You about Two Hundred Ontologies

The field of biomedicine has embraced the Semantic Web probably more than any other field. As a result, there is a large number of biomedical ontologies covering overlapping areas of the field. We have developed BioPortal— an open community-based repository of biomedical ontologies. We analyzed ontologies and terminologies in BioPortal and the Unified Medical Language System (UMLS), creating mo...

Integrating and Exploiting Large-Scale, Heterogeneous and Autonomous Databases with an Ontology for Molecular Biology

Numerous genome projects worldwide produce and gather gigabytes of sequence, structure, cellular, metabolic and other types of information to be stored in a large number of autonomous databases. In this context, supercomputers are used for sequence and structure comparison of objects within one database. The task of searching for common motifs and biologically related pieces of information in l...

Semantic Web Service Selection Using Particle Swarm Optimization (Pso)

Service selection is a major constraint to discover and deliver services in a user friendly manner. In our system, we are enhancing and evaluating reliability of service discovery by adapting Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) Algorithm in ontology repository to discover selected services. Our proposed technique is useful for ordinary search as well as semantic search corresponding to the servic...
