Rotational relaxation time of rigid rod-like macromolecule in concentrated solution

چکیده
2014 A theory is developed on the rotational relaxation time 03C4r of rigid rod-like molecules in concentrated solutions. The result is 03C4r oc c2 L9(03B1 cL2 d)-2 (In (L/d))-1 , where c is the concentration of rods, L and d are the rod length and diameter respectively and 03B1 is a certain numerical factor. This relaxation time is related to the static viscosity and is found to be in good agreement with the experimental observations. LE JOURNAL DE PHYSIQUE TOME 36, JUILLET-AOÛT 1975,

Electrostatic analysis of the charged surface in a solution via the finite element method: The Poisson-Boltzmann theory
Electrostatic potential as well as the local volume charge density are computed for a macromolecule by solving the Poisson-Boltzmann equation (PBE) using the finite element method (FEM). As a verification, our numerical results for a one dimensional PBE, which corresponds to an infinite-length macromolecule, are compared with the existing analytical solution and good agreement is found. As a ma...
متن کاملAn Analytical Technique for Solving Nonlinear Oscillators of the Motion of a Rigid Rod Rocking Bock and Tapered Beams
In this paper, a new analytical approach has been presented for solving strongly nonlinear oscillator problems. Iteration perturbation method leads us to high accurate solution. Two different high nonlinear examples are also presented to show the application and accuracy of the presented method. The results are compared with analytical methods and with the numerical solution using Runge-Kutta m...
متن کاملRotational dynamics of colloidal tracer spheres in suspensions of charged rigid rods
The short-time rotational dynamics of colloidal silica tracer spheres in suspensions of rigid silica rods is investigated, using time-resolved phosphorescence anisotropy, as a function of tracer radius aT , rod volume fraction f, and the range k 21 of the double-layer repulsions between the like-charged rods and tracer spheres. A large tracer size aT and a small screening length k 21 appear to ...
متن کاملEffects of the Bead-Solvent Interaction on the Dynamics of Macromolecules, 1 The Dumbbell Molecule
In the past two decades, one of the main goals of kinetic theory has been to derive master equations for the phasespace distribution function by starting from first principles, i.e., from the Hamiltonian of the overall system. From these equations, the hope (and research program) is then to obtain non-phenomenological expressions for the transport coefficients, including information about the r...
