Spectroscopy with next generation scintillator arrays
نویسنده
چکیده
Historically, gamma-ray spectroscopy has transitioned from using scintillator detectors with high efficiency but relatively low energy resolution to germanium detectors with high intrinsic energy resolution but much lower intrinsic efficiency. Next-generation scintillator materials such as lanthanum bromide, cerium bromide have become available over the last decade offering significantly improved energy resolution (~3% at 662-keV) and timing resolution. Such detectors are opening up new opportunities for medium-resolution spectroscopy. A number of ideas for future studies for stand-alone arrays of such scintillators as well as composite germanium-scintillator arrays will be presented, focusing particularly on challenges related to clustering in nuclei [1]. A brief overview of existing arrays and detector types will be given e.g. the PARIS calorimeter [2], motivated towards the physics goals.

Silicon (Si) and germanium (Ge) semiconductor nanowires can be utilized in next generation electronic, photonic, and energy conversion devices. Si, Ge, and Si1-xGex materials are also well studied and currently used in industry. Optoelectronic properties, such as the band gap, can be tuned by modulating the alloy composition, thus allowing for a wider range of uses. The focus of this project wa...

Multi-element (4x4) imaging arrays with high resolution collimators, size matched to discrete CsI(T1) scintillator arrays and mercuric iodide photodetector arrays (HgI, PDA) are under development as prototypes for larger 16x16 element arrays. The compact nature of the arrays allows detector positioning in proximity to the breast to eliminate activity not in the lineof-sight 0; the collimator, t...
متن کاملProfiles of covering arrays of strength two
Covering arrays of strength two have been widely studied as combinatorial models of software interaction test suites for pairwise testing. While numerous algorithmic techniques have been developed for the generation of covering arrays with few columns (factors), the construction of covering arrays with many factors and few tests by these techniques is problematic. Random generation techniques c...
