A Comparative Study of Existing Protocols Supporting Ip Mobility
نویسنده
چکیده
In this paper, we have done a comparative study for a set of protocols supporting IP mobility, such as Mobile IP (MIP), Hierarchical Mobile IP (HMIP), Wireless IP, Cellular IP, HAWAII, TeleMIP and Dynamic Mobility Agent (DMA). These IP-based mobility protocols will play an important role in the convergence of IP and legacy wireless networks, within the context of the future 4G networks. TeleMIP and DMA as extensions of MIP are intradomain mobility management architectures for providing global reachability and reducing location updates. Cellular IP and HAWAII are micromobility protocols that also complement base MIP by offering fast and seamless handoff control in limited geographical areas, and IP paging support to minimize power consuption. It has been observed that IP mobility management schemes such as MIP (for interdomain mobility) and Cellular IP (for intradomain mobility) might be required for fast and seamless handoff as well as for real time traffic management. We highlight the advantages and disadvantages of these protocols in the context of the managing mobility, and compare their features against a number of key design issues for seamless IP-based mobility as envisioned for the future 4G networks.

An efficient micro-mobility solution for SIP networks
SIP is evolving as the dominant protocol for multimedia call control in IP networks and is expected to be widely deployed in the near future. Using SIP for supporting mobility in SIPbased networks appears as a very attractive alternative to Mobile IP, taking advantage of existing SIP infrastructure and signaling, while avoiding duplication of functionality. However, existing proposals for suppo...
متن کاملHandoff Mechanisms in Cellular IP: Enhancement into the Indirect Handoff Mechanism
Mobile IP is now the standard for supporting mobility in IP networks. It provides seamless mobility by hiding the change of IP address when a mobile host moves between IP subnets. Nevertheless, Mobile IP is not designed to support fast handoff and seamless mobility in handoff-intensive environments. Several micro-mobility protocols have been proposed to support host mobility with frequent hando...
متن کاملLocation Independent Names for Nomadic Computers
Recent advances in the Domain Name System (DNS) and the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) have enabled a new approach to supporting mobile users: location independent naming. In this approach, machines use the same hostname from any internet location, but use an IP address that corresponds to their current location. We describe a protocol that implements location independent naming for...
متن کاملVoice Over Mobile IP
This paper discusses about transmission of Voice over Mobile IP. It is basically about transmitting voice over Mobile IP unlike the usual standard IP protocol. It discusses the key issues related to the Voice over IP and the standard protocols supporting it. It discusses how the protocols SIP, RTP are modified to attain the mobility of the protocols. Here we discussed about SIP mobility, RTP mo...

Mobility has the advantage of enlarging the WSN applications of the Internet of Things. However, proposing a mobility support protocol in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) represents a significant challenge. In this paper, we proposed a survey on mobility management protocols in WSNs based on 6LoWPAN technology. This technology enables to connect IP sensor devices to other IP networks without any...
