چکیده

aminofluorene for 90 days have a 10-fold increased capac ity to incorporate uracil into the ribonucleic acids in vivo (2, 16). According to current views (1, 6), the incorpora tion is determined by the activity of the anabolic as well as the catabolic enzyme systems involved in uradil metabo lism. The increased incorporation of uracil might thus be due, at least in part, to a decreased capacity of the liver to degrade the compound. In order to shed light on the mechanism underlying the increased uracil utilization, it was of interest to study the activity of the uracil-degrad ing system in the precancerous liver. The present work is concerned with the effect of dietary 2-acetylaminofluo rene on the activities of the 3 uracil-degrading enzymes, uradil reductase, dihydrouracil hydrolase, and carbamoyl @-alaninehydrolase.

Effect of 5-fluorouracil on noncancerous tissue growth.

In the normal rat, exogenous preformed uracil is incorporated in vivo to an insignificant extent into liver nucleic acids. In contradistinction, a very much higher incorporation is observed in chemically (acetylaminofluorene) induced hepatoma, as well as in the "preneoplastic" liver of animals treated with this carcinogen (30). This utilization of exogenous uracil for the synthesis of nucleic a...

Effects of simultaneous exposure to noise and styrene on rat liver enzymes

Background: Liver is an important organ that responsible for biological detoxification. There are few studies about the effect of co-exposure to organic solvents and noise on hepatic system enzymes. The study aim was to assess the effects of short-term exposure to noise and styrene on rat liver enzymes. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, we studied the liver enzymes of male r...

Expression of Metallothionein, P53 and Antioxidant Enzymes by Selenium and Vitamin D3 during Diethyl Nitrosamine-Induced Rat Liver Preneoplasia

Many studies have proved that the dietary micronutrient has an inhibitory effect against experimentally induced rat hepatocarcinogenesis. The present work is an attempt to understand combined effect of selenium (Se) and vitamin D3 (vit D3) on some potential protein expression markers of carcinogenesis, such as metallothionein (MT), P53 and antioxidant levels during ...

Performance and Serum Hepatic Enzymes of Hy-Line W-36 Laying Hens Intoxicated with Dietary Carbon Tetrachloride

An experiment was conducted to study the effects of carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) on post-peak performance and serum enzymes of Hy-Line W-36 laying hens from 32-36 weeks of age. The experiment was carried out with a total of 192 laying hens in a completely randomized block design. During the experiment laying hens were allocated to 4 groups consisted of T1) no CCl4 as control diet, T2, T3 and T4)...
