Role of Multislice Computerized Tomographic Angiography after Clip Placement in Aneurysm Patients Based on Comparison with Three Dimensional Digital Subtraction Angiography

چکیده

Postoperative angiography for aneurysm surgery is essential in identifying those aneurysms that have been inadequately clipped, allowing for additional corrective surgery. The current standard of reference for the postoperative evaluation of clipped aneurysms is digital subtraction angiography (DSA). However, DSA is an invasive method requiring arterial puncture and intraarterial catheter manipulation and has a total complication rate of approximately 5% and a permanent stroke rate of approximately 0.5% to 1%. These complications limit the clinical application of DSA and therefore there is a great demand for a non-invasive screening study to evaluate clipped aneurysms. Recently, multislice computerized tomographic angiography (MCTA) was developed to provide clear vascular images, and it is being widely used in the neurovascular field as MCTA does not carry the risks of DSA and takes less time than DSA. To determine whether postoperative MCTA can replace postoperative DSA, we evaluated the accuracy of MCTA in the postoperative evaluation of clipped aneurysms by comparising it to postoperative three dimensional (3D)-DSA.

Radiological measurements of dimensions of acutely ruptured internal carotid artery aneurysm: a comparative study between computed tomographic angiography and digital subtraction angiography

After aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage, most center practices treatment modality selection based on size and geometry in computed tomographic angiography. However, the validity as compared to digital subtraction angiography (DSA) is not well studied. Twenty patients with ruptured internal carotid artery aneurysm were identified in a two-year period. Mean difference in measurements from 3D com...

Sixty-four-row multislice computed tomographic angiography in the diagnosis and characterization of intracranial aneurysms: comparison with 3D rotational angiography.

BACKGROUND Sixty-four-row multislice computed tomographic angiography (CTA) has great potential for use in vascular studies. The aim of our study was to compare 64-slice CTA with three-dimensional rotational angiography (3DRA) in the detection and characterization of intracranial aneurysms with special attention to smaller (<3-mm) aneurysms. METHODS In a prospective study, a total of 133 pati...

Postoperative 3D angiography in intracranial aneurysms.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Postsurgical evaluation of patients with intracranial aneurysms is important because there is a risk of regrowth and subarachnoid hemorrhage from residual aneurysms. We assessed the role and value of 3D angiography in this evaluation. METHODS Images from both 3D angiography and digital subtraction angiography (DSA) were preoperatively obtained in 71 consecutive patients...

Computed Tomographic Angiography as an Adjunct to Digital Subtraction Angiography for the Pre-Operative Assessment of Cerebral Aneurysms

OBJECTIVES Computerized tomographic angiography (CTA) has emerged as a valuable diagnostic tool for the management of patients with cerebrovascular disease. The use of CTA in lieu of, or as an adjunct to, conventional cerebral angiography in the management of cerebral aneurysms awaits further experience. In this study, we evaluated the role of CTA specifically for the pre-operative assessment a...

CT Angiography of Intracranial Aneu - rysms : A Focus on Postprocessing 1 LEARNING

Computed tomographic (CT) angiography is a well-known tool for detection of intracranial aneurysms and the planning of therapeutic intervention. Despite a wealth of existing studies and an increase in image quality due to use of multisection CT and increasingly sophisticated postprocessing tools such as direct volume rendering, CT angiography has still not replaced digital subtraction angiograp...
