How to build segregation complexes in bacteria: Use bridges.

چکیده
In this issue of Genes & Development, Graham and colleagues (pp. 1228-1238) examine how ParBs, which bind to prokaryotic centromere-like partition sites, spread into nearby nonspecific DNA and assemble into higher-order protein-DNA complexes. Spreading is accomplished by looping rather than one-dimensional filamentation, thereby compacting the DNA into an extensively bridged complex.

The Measure of Residential Segregation of Socio-Economic Groups by Using Multigroup Indices in Shiraz City
Urban segregation has been a problem of many cities of the world. Many researchers have interested in the urban segregation issues. Urban segregation has strongly concentrated poverty and created underclass. Different types of urban segregation exist, including income and racial or ethnical segregation, and depending on the contextual mechanisms within a city. To understand and plan a better co...

The condensin complex is a key determinant of mitotic chromosome architecture. In addition, condensin promotes resolution of sister chromatids during anaphase, a function that is conserved from prokaryotes to human. Anaphase bridges observed in cells lacking condensin are reminiscent of chromosome segregation failure after inactivation of topoisomerase II (topo II), the enzyme that removes cate...
متن کاملInvestigation of Impact of Bridges Built on the Main Surface Water Collection Canals by Hydraulic Simulation (Case Study: Mianroud Canal - Tehran)
Familiarity with storm water management and how to assess damage and deal with it to minimize and control it is very important in urban management systems. There are several methods for flood control that are considered depending on the hydraulic conditions. The use of main canals for surface water collection, flow diversion, catchment management, etc. are among the methods considered by urban ...
متن کاملSpatial Segregation in Demography: A Short Review
Abstract. Spatial has always been an inherent component of demography, and demographic processes are inherently spatiotemporal. Recognizing the importance of spatial in general and spatial segregation in particular in demographic analysis has created new positions in demography and its conceptual and analytical frameworks. The notion of spatial segregation refers to the distribution of social...
متن کاملBacterial partition complexes segregate within the volume of the nucleoid
Precise and rapid DNA segregation is required for proper inheritance of genetic material. In most bacteria and archaea, this process is assured by a broadly conserved mitotic-like apparatus in which a NTPase (ParA) displaces the partition complex. Competing observations and models imply starkly different 3D localization patterns of the components of the partition machinery during segregation. H...
