The role of minor histocompatibility antigens in GVHD and rejection: a mini-review.

چکیده
'Ihe success of HLA genotypically identical bone marrow grafting is still hampered by graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) and rejection of the graft. One of the causes of the latter complications could be attributed to minor histocompatibility (mH) antigen disparities between the HLA identical sitolings (1). In this mini-review we will share our current Knowledge on the possible impacts of human mH antigen disparities between HLA identical donor and recipient on the outcome of bone marrow transplantation.

The Role of Human Minor Histocompatibility Antigens in Graft Failure: Α Mini-review
This brief review will summarise our present knowledge on the possible role of human minor histocompatibility antigens (mHags) in graft failure. Following a short introduction on the possible nature of human mHags some in vitro studies dealing with graft failure and rejection will be discussed. To understand the possible impact of mHag disparity between organ donor and recipient on the outcome ...

Background: It is suggested that HA-1 mismatching among hematopoietic stem cell transplanted recipients-donors is associated with acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD). So the aim of this study was to evaluate HA-1 frequency and examine the correlation between HA-1 disparity and GVHD patients who received transplantation from a HLA-identical sibling. Samples and Methods: the DNA was extracted...

Human leucocyte antigen (HLA) compatibility is the main factor determining the occurrence of graft-vs-host disease (GVHD) in patients. It has also been shown that minor histocompatibility antigen differences as well as genetic polymorphisms that are not sequenced by standard methodology for HLA typing can play a role. We used mixed lymphocyte cultures (MLCs) as a functional cellular test and in...
متن کاملImportance of minor histocompatibility antigen expression by nonhematopoietic tissues in a CD4+ T cell-mediated graft-versus-host disease model.
Minor histocompatibility antigens with expression restricted to the recipient hematopoietic compartment represent prospective immunological targets for graft-versus-leukemia therapy. It remains unclear, however, whether donor T cell recognition of these hematopoietically derived minor histocompatibility antigens will induce significant graft-versus-host disease (GVHD). Using established bone ma...
متن کاملAutosomal Minor Histocompatibility Antigens: How Genetic Variants Create Diversity in Immune Targets
Allogeneic stem cell transplantation (alloSCT) can be a curative treatment for hematological malignancies. Unfortunately, the desired anti-tumor or graft-versus-leukemia (GvL) effect is often accompanied with undesired side effects against healthy tissues known as graft-versus-host disease (GvHD). After HLA-matched alloSCT, GvL and GvHD are both mediated by donor-derived T-cells recognizing pol...
